So I got this boss. Usually ends up butting his nose in where it doesn't belong. Won't let people just do what they are doing and leave it alone so long as stuff is still getting done. So me and this guy get in an argument, other guy started it, but that's not really the point. Boss decides to come down hard on me, saying he is going to put a note in my file and all that. Says it's not disciplinary, but lets face it. Once a note is in your file, it stays there. Tried talking to him about it with a calm head and he absolutely refused to listen to the fact that I was provoked lol. Didn't even care about the other party in the argument, pretty much saying not his problem. Man what a crappy day!

Starting to miss my old boss lol.

trade ya for the stupid crap 2 of my employs did today.............

I had a POS boss for 15 yrs, man he made my life miserable. Everyone hated him, he couldn't even do his own job. When there was a problem and he had to call someone for help he had me do it.

unfortunately, some bosses do suck. one thing I've learned over the past 28 years in management, there are always two sides to a story. as a manager i live my three simple rules why good employees stay (or leave) your company: Management, Working Conditions and Pay. in THAT order.... I hope it gets beeter for you, one way or another.

Throughout my early years I learned and stored enough about how NOT to be a good manager, that I've been reasonably successful the last 10 years as a "project team leder", ensuring timely sucessful project outcomes, while managing to keep the good employees happy and empowered and the bad ones at least partially motivated and documented.

It's definately a balanicing act between being labeled "one of the boys" or a "brown noser", neither of which is conducive to an effeicient, productive work environment.

Listening to the "customers" and the "workers" (and of course, upper management)as well as being intimately aware and involved in the work environment are key factors.

Listening to input from workers, accepting good ideas, while giving credit where due, but ultimately using your own judgment when making decisions, and being accounable for your actions are other qualities that make a sucessful supervisor. (...and I never read any of thos "7 habbits" type books)

Don't know how it is where you live, but some places around here if they want to put a "note" in our file, they expect you to sign it to acknowledge what is said. WE do not have to sign it and they cannot force you to sign it either.

I feel your pain! Same boat here, young buck that knows more than any of the "stupid old guys" , applied the right amount of suction & got the promotion. I'm still shocked that ignorance & arrogance go so well together.
Coworkers & I are try'n to stay positive and supporrt each other. All while we hope Junior steps on his own dick quickly & gets the boot.

hang in there

First ask for a "face to face" talk with " boss". While you might have an idea of what you are bringing to the table for the company as an employee, it is a possibility that the company does not know all you do for them! (massage' the guy) with this part.

THEN bring up the issue you need to deal with and ask for a retraction. Be confident and maintain your composure.

A good boss wants dialogue with employee.
This will work & best of luck,
Sonny

When I first started working a real job (33 years at the same place) one of the old timers in my crew said "if you don't like the boss that you have now, all you have to do is wait a little bit." I soon discovered that he was right on. The longest time I had one boss was 3 years, the shortest time was about 1 hour. I had probably 40+ different managers while I worked there. Some were really good and some were just plain a**holes, and everything in between. They just kept coming and going. My point is that you don't want to give up a good job just because you boss is an jerkoff. Hang in there for awhile and keep your nose clean. Hopefully he will screw up and they will get him out of there.
In the meantime, ask them to put a time limit on any disciplinary letters that are in your personnel file. 6-12 months is the normal time. And ask to see your file once a year so that you know what's in there. Good luck and hang in there.

I am the boss & he's an A-- hole for sure....

Wish it was that simple lol.

Care to elaborate?
Find it's always nice to share in misery lol.

Lets just say its a traveling circus, I dont want to hi-jack the thread. But if I get started....................

Bosses aren't Managers. They are bullies. There is a lot of bullying in the work place; it's on the rise.

People like that tend to make a show of authority once in a while just to remind everyone they are THE Boss. I know, I have one like that.
They care not about the company or else they wouldn't tend to drive away good people who want to work and be rewarded for their efforts.
Your Boss also feels threatened by you in some way or, perhaps, is a bit jealous of your talents and abilities he doesn't have.

If you like your work do it diligently and don't give the Boss any reason to discipline you. Otherwise, don't stay miserable but start applying your valuable skills elsewhere in the market place.

Hang in there, Bro.
