Numbers matching 1973 Charger SE 400 4V auto console A/C power options, disc and 8 3/4. I picked it up a year ago, Drove it home and have been chipping away ever since. It's not my only project so things are taking some time to get to. ISO Delete on suspension, Bumper fillers removed, 71 bumper brackets added, 71 Grilles and 71 tail lights have been done. The rebuilt Tranny is going in this week. I will get pictures when it comes out of hiding.

Just wanted to ask about the red Charger in the 1st picture. Is the bumper leaning back at the top or is the picture distorted? Looks pretty cool leaned back like that.

It's an old picture taken in 1981, a picture of a picture. It's distortion from a bend in the original photo.

Did the red one pull the trailer good??? looks good pulling the boat...

Good luck getting it where you want it, Its a nice project and numbers matching is a big plus! :)

Cool project. Are you going to paint it red like the picture or do you have another color in mind?

Thank you for the compliment )

I'm thinking Black with the Superbee grille, tail lights and bumpers moved inboard . I think it would look good even if i decide not to covert it to a hardtop ( i have all the parts to do it). I just want to move on the my 72 400 sunroof SE sooner than later.

Nice Roadrunner. I am fond of that body style. Here is my 69 Satellite I'm cloning into a Roadrunner when the chargers have had their attention. I got a little side tracked with the Chargers I bought after I bought this one. Can't decide on what hood to run.

Back to the 73. It's solid and the price was right. More pics to come when the tranny is completely installed.

I couldn't handle the 73 Grilles either. So I changed them to 71 R/T or Superbee Style at the same time I got rid of the bumper fillers and recessed the bumpers. I have a hideaway setup for it but it will have to wait. I have other irons that need to go in the fire.LOL

Very nice project, keep posting progress.

i did the same thing with my grills on my 74 i went with 71's and recessed the bumpers without the strips. so much cleaner!

Thank you.

Just drive able would be good. getting it where I want is going to be a a lot further down the road. It's been a year since I got it and the tranny was leaking like a stuck pig and DMV canceled my registration for not having insurance filed in time. so I just been fiddle fading on it. Now that it's reg'd and insured again I'm a little more serious about getting it back on the pavement. The rebuilt transmission is back in, but it's still on jack stands. One step closer. hip hip hooray!!!

Lol, You'll get it! Im sure you want to jump in it and just take off, most of us back east hear would like it to, this weather is really putting a lot on hold, at least outside of the garages doing things, 17 degrees here now and heading down... ;) ever see a frozen Robin!!!! lol If the March winds blow this year, the lake Erie snow machine may educate it us once again!

Well as you all can see it's off the jack stands the Transmission's in and it's back on pavement. It's looking better and better every time it emerges. I think the front end needs 1" more drop, but otherwise I'm happy with the way it looks so far. Front end is a little loose when you goose it but that just means good weight transfer. I think I'm going to splurge for the 103 torsion bars very soon.

Looks very cool. I really like the 71 front grill with the tuck in. I'm looking forward to seeing the new paint job.

Thank you! I too would like to see it painted along with nice fresh chrome. Maybe next year tho. I am planning to get two other cars mechaniclly sound before I go on another spending spree )

Very nice car and project thread, I should start one as well, but it will be slow to update as I have a million and one spring projects coming up and money is slow to come for my project.

Start a thread old_school. I lost my phone and all the pictures I didn't email were lost. many of the 73 from the first day i got it. since then the rusty roof has been addressed, front and rear valances were replaced, 440 rear springs were added with iso delete and PST bushings,( you won't have to worry about iso on your 72), front sway bar bushings, wheels tires (i had laying around), new uphulstry front and rear, new carpet kit, Super bee hood, flow master mufflers, 71 grilles, 71 tail lights, side markers, bumper brackets to recess bumpers, new transmission with shift kit and stall. I also added a factory rear sway bar.

I started my thread a little late so with the loss of my pictures most of the progress shots aren't here.

Taking the girls ice skating so were going for a ride in the 73.

I didn't hook up the new speedo cable under the dash, I wanted to grease the cable before I do.

Nice, I miss my old rallye style gauges that my 71 Charger had, wish I had more pics of it.

Needy? no I'm needy!

I finally mounted my remote hood release under the dash after four weeks of it dangling under the brake pedal. BWHAAAAAHAAAAHAAA.
