What do you guys think of combining a 71 Challenger hood scoop area with a 67 Coronet hood? the contour lines that run across and up the 67 hood match pretty close to the Challengers front scoop lines going forward. The swept back angle of the scoops would mirror the front contour lines of the 67 that extend out to the edge of the fenders. I doped up some drawings and overlays to see what it looked like and it's different but cool.

What say you? Discuss.

Biz.

I say its your car, do what you want. It doesn't matter what others think.

spitballin in the Hood.....

Right, I know. But I don't want to be THAT guy at the local show that every other Mopar fan rolls his or her's eyes at. I suppose I was wondering if any other guys had had that idea and dismissed it because they tried it and it was a nogo, or heard from somebody that it wouldn't work.

Could you mock it up? I think that sounds interesting and kind of know what you mean, but am having a difficult time visualizing it.

Get some models of those two cars and build your experiment. You'll have a better idea of how the hood contours end up matching (or not) and then you can show us the end results.

Looks good to me - I could see that on my '67 Coronet R/T

Thought about a shaker on mine - but not the one you'd think - the square one
from a Mustang - I know that is sacrilege - but the '67 is boxy and that square shaker may not look that bad on the Coronet

shakin things up?

Do u mean to say that you would like to cut a hole in your 67 hood and have a scoop sticking up out of it?

HHmmmmmm.......the contours of the front to back lines would support that I think. I like that idea better than the R/T fake 4 scoop setup that exists now. If it's fake why have it? If I were to do the Challenger hood I would cut ports in the hood to make them functional. The 440 wedge will need air. I also thought about sacrificing the center two headlights and covering the openings with black honeycomb and screen and hooking up air tubes to a custom air cleaner.

a few years ago I helped a buddy put 68 charger sails on a 65 impala back window. the lines were almost the same and it looked like it belonged from the factory. Frankly i'm surprised that Foose didn't do this to the IMPOSTER impala project.

I kind of like it! It really seems to add to the cAr.

I like the look of your drawing, it flows very well in my opinion. I would say go for it if you have the time and talent. If you don't like the finished product you can always find another stock hood.
