hwo to dechrome bumpers ?

I,m trying to redo my 67 Belv. bumpers and I have a rust hole that needs to be filled and some straighting.I want to remove the chrome and paint the bumpers.I was wondering what the best way to strip the chrome off at home.

Did a bumper using a disc sander with 80 grit. Took several discs. You can also blast it or take it to a chrome shop and have it removed.

The chrome that is still decent 80 , 180 , prime 3 coats then 400 wet. For the repair areas any welded spots smooth with 36 then 80

use short strand fiberglass if you repaired a hole for the 1st coat of filler after you sand it down go over it and any other minor dings after they are dollied out with body filler , smooth with 180 , prime bumper 3 coats , wet sand with 400, seal & paint

I sand blasted, used self etching primer, then topcoated.

I once knew a girl they said could "suck the chrome off a trailer hitch"... maybe she can do a bumper too! hahaha

Muriatic Acid to remove Chrome instantly, then sand smooth with 220 then 320 use lead to fill damage in bumper. Avoid using Fiberglass, nothing seals like a lead patch. After your done spray the back of bumper with 2 part Epoxy and paint over with Rustoleum Industrial bridge paint. This product is 5x better than Por 15 and 1/2 the cost.
