Hi Guys,

Great day today, It was first look for me at my 68 coronet after it was delivered in South Australia from Texas. All looking good underneath when the car was on the lift but we noticed that there was no trans plate cover.
Is there any reason to your collective minds as to why this might be missing? I guess I can get another one, but if it has been taken off for a reason not yet known it would be handy to know sooner than later!

Any ideas would be appreciated

Sometimes people are just lazy or take shortcuts. It is just a dust/dirt cover so it doesn't really hurt anything if left off. I, myself, have left the covers off many times. In fact, I believe my 65 Fury hasn't had one on for the past 20 years or so.

X2, if you have reason to pull the trans out for reason with any frequency, it saves a little time. No harm on race or low use vehicles not subject to lots of dirt or road debris.

I had to ditch the cover after installing a b&m flexplate and hughes torque converter. The tq bolts just barely hit it.

Thanks for the replies it will be a summer cruiser so probably no big deal, I'll have to catch up with previous owner to find out if anything such as mod flexplate/torque converter has been put in.

Had my Belvedere over 20 years now and never have had a cover on it. We are getting ready to head out on a 10 day road trip with it and figured I may as well put one on it, just in case I run over something loose on the road and kick it up under the car. After an extensive search through the garage, turns out I don't have one. A piece of sheetmetal off a gas grille headed to the dump and some hammer and chisel work, I made my own....

Woohoo. Not enough '68 Coronets here in Adelaide. PM me if you get out on Zippel cruises in spring Paul - I'd love to meet you and your car!

Thanks Frank,
It will be good to be on a zippel with my own car for once! I will PM you for sure.
Great idea with the trans plate cover 68sportsatelliteragtop. Rockauto and classicindustries are my go to's at the moment, just noticed no wiper water bottle and accessories to go with it!
