I'm working on a 1966 Coronet and not sure what has been done before. I do know an a-body p/s gearbox was installed and it has a 1978 440. I believe the 78 exhaust manifold is not compatible with the steering. Any info is greatly appreciated.

You can always eliminate the stock coupler and go with a slimmer coupler. I got this a Flaming River.

Exhaust maifold is wrong for car. Looks like a c body manifold.
