Last weekend the clock and wipers worked fine. then today it was sprinkling and I had no wipers and I also noticed I no longer had the ticking sound of the clock working. I checked the fuses with a multi meter and they are all fine.. The car has only been mine for about 4 months (if I remember right there is a wire or two deep under the dash with fuse holders, but I don't know what they are for - Ill check them tomorrow after work). Other than adding a tach I have done no other electrical modifications to the car. (the Tach and tach ileum light still works as does everything else - well that is; what was working when I bought it).

Any Ideas?

Update: If I am reading through the wiring diagram correct it looks like the circuit runs through the backup lights.. The backup lights still work

thanks Jake

wipers & clock are on completely different circuits....

Clock is 12v power all the time....see if you have power to clock terminal in back of cluster, if so, then clock is bad

Wipers are powered by key on or accessory circuit....with key on, see if you have power at any wiper motor terminal at firewall plug....

the back up lights are powered by the wiper switch, not the other way around...service manual should have a troubleshooting section in there for inop wiper system

Sounds like someone may have tapped into the power legs of those circuits under the dash, did you find anything?

The rain here just wont stop and the car is not garaged because its 6 different colors :) and parked at my dads house (45 min away - and the car is my daily driver currently). My dad went out last night to try some T/Sing and says the wiper switch just seems like it has no life left in it (as he put it) its loose feeling and can no longer feel any clicking or anything when he attempts to turn on the wipers. There is suppose to be no rain this afternoon when I go home for Christmas. Will start testing with the steps in the manual then.

The clock started working again though... Dad said it looks like the clock hands are a little bent and get stuck on each other.

Disconnect the battery on the car NOW! More often than not the Rube Goldberg-esque wiper switch will fail and melt the entire dash harness back to the fuse panel and up to the heater switch. There is an internal circuit breaker in the switch however it usually fails after some time. Don't ask me how I know!

being a 66 B body, I bet it has variable wipers, which means that the wiper switch will only have one "click" to it and the rest of the turning of the knob will feel like nothing is there...

I have variable wiper switches here if you need one, but I doubt that's your problem

Well finally did the bench test. The motor runs great.. no problems.. So I guess this leaves me with a switch problem.
