Hasn't posted since April...he has that purple 72 RR.

Is he the one with the funny dog in the avatar? I haven't seen him around.

Another one I haven't seen on here for a long time is Petty blue GTX but I saw him at the track today.

Could this be the missing member thread?

Yep, I remember his car... There's a few MIA.. I was reading an old thread yesterday and seen and thought about FridayGT., Pabster Pmed me not to awfully long ago and he hasn't been here either.. Yep meep hes the one with the dog (FridayGT), if i remember right when he was in the welcome wagon he had a picture of his dog along with his cigars...

Hey folks!!! Sorry to have been MIA so long. I wound up getting stationed overseas and my 72 RR has been in storage ever since. I just got stationed back stateside and hoping to fly out tomorrow to go pick up my roadrunner. My friend coordinated having paint and body done for me while I was gone, SUPER EXCITED! Pictures and details will be posted once I have them and I'll let you guys know when I finally can go pick it up.

Welcome back FridayGT & thanks again for your service to our great country...

Welcome back and another THANK YOU for your service SIR! Hope your car looks as good as you could imagine.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. It's been a long time. I'll have to update the picture for my avatar, that dog has gotten quite a bit bigger. Not to mention the Wife and I had a bouncing baby boy while we were in Spain! He's cute, he's chubby and he's obsessed with cars. lol. One of his first 5 words was "WOW" and he yells it as he points to cool cars and trucks. Just a little proud... lol

Ugggh!!!! I wish I had pictures too!!! My friend said he had some "Extras" done to the car for me apart from the paint and body I paid (very little) for. So I have to wait, until what is now going to be the 25th :( to see it, he wants it to be a surprise.

Sigh. So, another snag in the car being ready. It was supposed to be ready at the end of March and I had a flight on the first of April. Well, April fools, there was a problem with the rear main. It turns out the motor mounts and Trans mount were out of alignment and causing the seals to leak. It would explain issues I'd had previously. So, the shop said they'd take care of it and that it'd be ready on the 13th. Given the track record, I booked my flight for the 25th incase something else popped up. Well, apparently some family issues popped up and they're not starting until tomorrow. Really bummed, but everything they're doing, especially at the price they're doing it, is a huge favor so I'm trying to be patiently appreciative. Hopefully it'll be ready when I fly out on Monday!

Friday, could you elaborate on the motor mount/trans mount alignment leak??

This is me relaying a message that was relayed by my buddy, so I may be off. It sounded like the mounts were placed just far enough out of alignment that it was causing issues with drive train alignment, which was in turn causing the seals to leak, primarily the rear main.

They said it seemed like this was done primarily to accommodate a trans mount that was not the appropriate type for my car.

The fix that they said was required was to remove and replace them after verifying that it was the mounts that were off and not a bent frame.

Does this sound way out of left field?

no, not really IMHO. I was askin cuz my rear main is leaking also. I replaced my motor mounts last year, and I replaced my trans mount the year before that. both sets of mounts I used are for my car, but the motor mounts are rubber and the trans is poly. Im just wondering if maybe the poly mount is affecting the rear main? or the oil pan leak for that matter....hmmmm

Probably worth considering. The shop said they used lasers to measure and align. Not sure how feasible or necessary that really is though. I'd been having leaks before dropping it off, so it makes sense for old issues I'd had.
