Hi guys,

This june me and a collegue will be coming to the states to learn more about modern hybrid and electrical vehicles. The visit will last a week and we will be staying in the somerset area. For the final day I'm looking for a nice place to stay in the Boston area.
Sure, I can simply book a hotel but I would like to experience the real America.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Thanks and best regards,

Antoon

Try the Taylor House.

you want to experience boston, take a walk through "hide" park at 2am, lol I'm just kidding don't do that.

I guess it's a park where you don't want to hide out in then:lol:

I'll check it out.

What makes it a good place to stay?

Thanks

We live about under an hour out side of boston, but when we go to the city for a show or dinner, we normally stay over night at either the taylor or another one I cant remember the name of, but the taylor is nicer, and cheaper :) A combo I enjoy, breakfast is special too.

I don't drive well in the dark anymore, I can if I have to but for $125 and they cook me breakfast in the am, I am in. Then me and the wife normally do a little something in the city in the morning and then head home.

The beds are comfortable, the place is claen, the furniture is really nice, just a nice place. Parking can suck, but we haven't had many issues, sometimes there are events in them buildings and you just need to park on the street, you do this at the wrong time and your car will be gone..

Yah Hyde park is not a neighborhood you want to stroll around, there are a few in or around boston, southy neighborhoods have not all faired well, and get nick names like hide park and murderpan (Mattapan) another area to stay clear of.

No offense to anyone who lives there, lol. I'm sure it is a wonderful place to raise a family (of wolves).

I know these places because years ago a friend of mine did Poe Tows, and when he had a truck down he would hire us to come out and tow for him at full rate, and there were some scary situations, I came back to the cab one night and there was a junky sitting in my truck sleeping in the drivers seat, he actually climbed in (Maybe for some heat) and fell asleep before he could steal anything. At first I thought he was faking dead to get me close, BUT old truck driver trick is keep your tire thumper handy, and man did I have a good one (not an illegal tool anywhere in the country, truck drivers slap the tires with a 3ft long pipe to check they are aired up, plat tires make a different sound.)

I was about to check this guys tires when I seen he really did pass out, so I buttoned the tow, went in the passenger side, pushed him out with my feet and hopped in the drivers seat and took off, I didn't even know if he was clear of the axles, I was going.

I once asked a cop why they never waited for us, and he said look around, I'm not staying in one spot over here for too long and I don't think you should either... lol, if the cops are scared that is enough for me.

this was years ago them areas may be cleaned up now, I remember NYC in the 80's and now its one of the safest places in the country.

I stayed 2 weeks in a town right outside of Boston called Acton for training...cool old town. They had an amuesment, putt putt type park that would put on a little local car show. Pretty friendly people...
Beautiful country!

Nice story and from what you describe the place really sounds good.
I think I'll give em a call to see what they do for me.

Thanks.

Btw any other tips and experiences are welcome, also for sightseeing around town

Be sure to see the PT boat, submarine & USS Massachusetts at Battleship Cove in Fall River. If you stay in the city's hotles, you're going to get pooned on prices buig time. You could stay in Dedham or Braintree & be reasonable close (10-15 miles) to Boston, but with cheaper costs. Just don't drive into the city in rush hour traffic. In Boston, visit the USS Constitution in Boston, Bunker Hill Monument, Fanueil Hall or take a duck boat tour (book that one in advance). If you go a little north of boston to Concord & see the Old North Bridge where the revolution started.

Pretty neat around the habaa ( Harbor) , lots of good food. You can walk from North Church (Paul Revere fame) to Bunker Hill on the other side of the river its called the Fredom Trail and is marked by a white line on the sidewalk...if your in to the American Revolutionary War...I was in awe...

Who's RC?

Thanks for thinking along
Just some washed up has been, on the brink of being homeless, up there in the East Coast!
Ha Ha!
His Barn is ...uh...Breathtaking....
Quite literally!

Yeah, its unbelievable!
Uh:
That is as in: U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-A-B-L-E

It looks like he's a socialist. I don't think I want to be associated with a character like that:lol:

If you are in the area the second to last week, Thursday June 22, The Bass Pro shop in Foxboro is not far from you and has the biggest car cruise in the state, up to 2,000 (yes 2,000) cars have been known to fill the lots of Gillette Stadium and its a great time. Completely free for spectators and cars , too much to take in sometimes but a lot to enjoy. Sorry no recommendation on hotel ....but car guys always look for shows
