Hello everyone this is my first build ever. Bought the car back in highschool just had issues with making money but now I've started buying parts. The car was originally a 73 satellite with a 318. I'm trying to clone it into a rr and I'm dropping a 383 from a 68 rr in(I know not periodically correct) just looking for help and advice from other people who are currently trying to do the same thing or have already cloned there car any help is much appreciated

Welcome to the site! She`s going to be sweet! Have anymore pics?

The factory big block cars had a different K frame and a cut out portion of the pass side inner fender...and different torsion bars and sway bars.

There's a mixed bag of answers on whether you really need to cut the inner fender, depending on what headers you use.

There's also a mixed bag of answers on whether you need to cut the driver's side engine mount depending on what brackets you use.

You could probably get a 5.9 Mag and spend that time and effort on making it car and carb friendly and have almost the same power, and better reliability, longevity, and weight balance.

...and I'm interested in how your car was optioned from the factory.

I see the "Satellite" emblem is on the fender. Mine is a no vinyl top car, but my emblem is on the quarter.

I can't see if your car has drip moldings or belt/door top moldings. It looks like maybe not.
Mine does not. That's kind of rare.

Do you have your fender tag.

...and I just noticed yours has no side molding. Was it shaved off?

welcome to FBBO from NorCal

good luck

Thanks for all the info I have 68 headers from a barracuda for it.
I bought this car when I was 16 and the guy I bought it from really didn't know much about it so about the molding options and everything I couldn't really tell you sorry.
So what would it take for me too get this engine to work with my car? Where can i find all the parts you mentioned to make it work?

Welcome from Canada, I think shumaker makes a set of mounts to take care of the k member issue, the headers could be an issue, unless the headers are TTI , 68 cuda headers are going to be fenderwell headers and I don't think you really want that. Hedman or hooker make some quality headers if the price is an issue, if not TTI all the way!best of luck:thumbsup:

I don't think you can assume A body headers are fender well design.

Is there a fender tag on your car?

Member "Bruzilla" just put a 440 in a 74 318 RR.

I'm sure there are others on the site as well, I just seem to get mixed answers when I ask those specific questions involved in this particular installation.

As stated, those schumacher motor mounts say to cut the driver's side boss on the K frame.

I've seen a template to cut the pass side inner fender, but the jury is still out on if it is necessary with headers.

I think brother Bru did not cut his.

You think you could possibly send me links on the exact headers that would fit I'd appreciate it a lot

Good luck with the build, I don't have a clone, its a real one, but will be great to see how you progress with your conversion!

I'm from mercer county I'm about 10-15min outside of Trenton. You're car looks awesome. This is my car she's just a roller now just waiting for the time to work on it. I'm in the marines and stationed in nc so I don't get a lot of time to touch just mostly buying parts for now
