Really noisy sure grip

I rolled the dice bought a center section from a 71ish charger 3.23 sure grip. Installed it as is with fresh 75w90 gear oil, says approved for limited slip. Went for a drive and as soon as things got up to temp the sure grip got really noisy around every corner, embarrassing noisy.
Is it just in need of a better or different lubricant? An additive? Or am I screwed?
Suggestions?
 
Try some GM 88900330 additive. Have had some making noise before and this will sometimes clear it up. It worked last time after adding fluid with a supposedly already added in it brand. Good luck.
 
I like the ferd additive.
 
What is embarrassingly noises mean? Ones that need some additive click and pop and you can feel it in the seat. But not embarrassing.

If it's that loud and jerky you may have found the reason it's not in a car anymore.
 
Loud snapping noise while cornering, whirring. Grinding, all stops when going straight. Literally sounds like something going to brake. I've heard the 70's sure grip is a cone type, I really don't know what that means, but not as good as clutch type, is that true
 
The unit is probably blown up
 
Just thinking out loud if it is a cone style sure grip would limited slip addative be of any help? Don't those addatives only work if it is a friction clutch pack dedign?

Well I really didn't think the addative would do much but I was wrong, drilled a hole in the carrier , tapped it 1/4 npt and installed a magnetic plug. I researched gear oils and purchased a Castrol branded oil that claims it has all the addatives for limited slip differentials. I added 2 Ford 4 ounce limited slip addatives and went for a drive. It was silent, I'm amazed that for as loud as it was it could be so smooth and quite.

Now you spend some cash on another area of the car.
 
Dan you just never know- try the cheap stuff first is my motto.
