Oil slinger -69 383?

I'm in the prosess of changing the camshaft on this, and I see an oil slinger located outside the crank sprocket mentioned here and there. My engine doesn't have this oil slinger... Should I get one before assembling?

Some do, some don't. If it came to a vote, I'm a yes.
 
I'd say "yes" just because I think the Mopar engineers put it in there for a good reason.
 
If I recall correctly when the double lip front seal came into use the engineers dropped the slinger.

i always use them. never seen a factory engine without one. cheap insurance for leaks.
 
count me as yes, and I'll add- make sure it's installed the right way.
