Anyone make new windshields ?

G'day guys,
Just wondering if there's any places in the States that might do reproduction windshields for our 3rd Gen cars ?
Obviously I'd need to get one ported, but I cant seem to find anywhere that actually does them to even get a price.

Check with Safelite auto glass. I got mine for a 65 thru them.
 
I have one from them for my 69 belvedere.
 
you can contact Jeff at 521 Restorations, he carries all the Auto Metal Direct glass, and he has a form to get quote on his website. 521restorations.com
 
Thanks for the help. I tried google searches but couldn't get anything, just repair places.
My screen is ok at the moment, but it's got specks all over it. What terrifies me is the postage.

get used to it ,it costs just as much to buy over here and you have less choice . need to become a internet shopper , ebay is your friend :thumbsup:

Yeah, I had a look for places in Australia today......they must just import as required themselves.
I don't need one right away, but have been thinking about it for a while.
 
You could get it made locally based on your existant one. Maybe could be same high priced but saving the risk of get it broken on shipping. The newer windshields are being laminated which are more fragile than the original tempered ones. A tempered glass supports a shake, not the laminated ones thought.

I give you an idea... the earliers 90s Chevrolet Silverado windshields can be cut to fit... has being done locally and is a perfect fit

Well, I emailed a couple of places but it looks like there's no chance of getting one shipped to me here unless I arrange the transport myself. Some say they'll ship it to a port, but that's it.
Luckily I don't need one right now, but I've been thinking about it lately, just in case. I'll keep researching.

Hi Pete , don't know if you have used these guys but I have been using them for parts and they are spot on - obviously a bit of a wait but they work out the tax/vat for us in the u.k when you purchase so there's no surprises for the import price and it's one stop shopping - just received my 2nd order - excellent packaging and very keen prices don't know if they do front screens for your car and I know we are on the opposite sides of the world but they deliver.

G'day mate, yep I've used Rock Auto quite a few times. I reckon they're great. I'm not sure they had windscreens last time I looked, but I'll check again.

AMD has them listed on their website. Along with back glass, and door glass.
