Here is the 360 I'm going to swap my 318 for. I'm using my 904 trans (not building a race car). The numbers are: 4006830 360 and pass side 28678. So the story goes, it's a crate engine with less than 40,000 miles. I'm paying $180 for it. Rotating assembly turns freely and compression stroke is tight. Freeze plugs look new, and under the valve covers are sludge free. There is a roof over it so no water intrusion. Any thoughts before I pull the trigger today? Thanks!

You don't get much more complete than that! A battery and gas can and you could verify it runs right where it sits in the photos.

Grab the kick down linkage! Use that TQ (If it works right!)
What year?

I believe it's a '78.

Really on the thermoquad? I thought they were garbage no?

Anyone know what that large hose in the driver valve cover is for???

If it is in good condition, THAT particular year only needs to be drilled
Or a vacuum advance port.

How good a carb is truly dependent on the condition of the carb itself, the condition it operates under (temperature mostly)
And the carb tuners ability.

I have run low 12'snwith them on mild builds. There not as tuneable as a Holley and parts are a pain to come by. But! They ARE a capable carb.

Looks like a breather size geometry that could have has a hose
To the air cleaner. I don't know for sure.
What vehicle is it from?

Use that TQ.

I (Sublime/Sixpack) agree about the Thermoquad. I'd take it in a heart beat. Just like anything else, they can have their issues. But I have three that work very well.

Sorry, not sure what happened there. After it posted and I saw it, I edited it as best I could to clarify. Figured you'd have something to say about it.

I'd grab it .the drivers side hose is to the air cleaner the second one looks like a common modification that we do in the scca racing so when you turn hard oil doesn't spew out it travels up the hose then back down

Are you running headers or stock manifolds? If stock make sure to use 360 manifolds....good luck.

The tube on the driver side valve cover is the oil fill tube. this is a van motor. and from the photo you can see the van shroud seals as well as the van/truck oil pan.
