Hey everybody ever since I missed out on a local '70 Roadrunner I couldn't get the idea out of my head. Took the plunge and somehow won an auction on ebay I never expected to win on a '70. I'm all the way in Philadelphia, the car is in De Soto, KS about 30 minutes south of Kansas City. Anybody on here local in the area?

Congrats on the win mike, I’m sure someone local will chime in. I would try posting a thread in the “general discussion” forum it will get more views there. Title it “any members near ———“ got any pics of the car by chance?

It needs work, but I knew that going in. Dark burnt orange. Just a 383 auto car, nothing special. but thanks!

Congrats and welcome to the addiction!

It is kind of tough bidding sight unseen but on a fix r upper you stand a better chance of doing pretty good as you said it does need work. These Mopars all rust in the same areas so hopefully no surprises.

Have any pictures from the auction?

not exactly sure how to copy and paste stuff. But more about the logistics, anyone ever buy a car from far away? Like fly out to go see/pay for it? Ship a car long distances? I'm usually just a local guy, cash and a trailer kind of person.

Road trip!
You could fly out, rent a truck and car dolly and drive them back or pay a hauler to pick it up and drop it off. And honestly, the car hauler is probably the better option considering time and money.

Welcome to FBBO Mike. Glad you scored a great car and joined the site. Welcome to the wonderful world of Mopar! Post some pics when you get a chance.

Yes that would be a 17 hour drive! Plus the rental costs
There are a lot of car transport companys. Do a search for them. Some places will give multiple quotes. Be sure to choose one with the proper Interestate permits and cargo Insurance. Shop around. I expect now days it would cost $1000-$1500. It would be nice to find one that will keep your car on one trailer--less chance for damage. Also nice not for it to have to sit at a terminal waiting for another truck to hook on to it. I had a car transported from Phoenix to S.W. Iowa. Lucked out He was going to Minnesota for a fishing trip and financed his travel expenses by hauling cars--Private--delivered right to my door and drove straight through. Had my car on his flatbed truck and pulling his boat behind that. I do know of a dependable guy that transports cars and parts in a 40' enclosed trailer all over the USA He sets up a route to minimize empty miles................MO...

:welcome: aboard Mike!

Tell us the eBay item number, i'll look it up and post those pictures.

I bought my car site unseen on ebay. Had it shipped and saw it for the first time when it arrived. Shipping is cheaper than you think. I had quotes as low as $450 to get it from Wisconsin to NJ.

Yea, I don't think she's that bad at all. So how did you pay the guy? I was probably going to fly out there. What shipping company did you use?

Nice project and a great color too.

It was a dealer so I was comfortable wiring the money direct from my bank. I wound up using a company the dealer suggested

From what I understand, though, most of these shipping companies are simply brokers and all hire the same independent shippers.
