Has anyone installed disk brake conversion using Tom Condran's Performance Handling for Classic Mopars book?

I have the book and want to install disk brakes on the front of my 68 Charger.

I have started collecting parts but would love to talk to someone who has done it.

I have that book somewhere, of course since I was looking for it it can't be found. What are you needing, maybe I can give you a hand? I wanted to find the section showing the MOOG numbers for the front end components on b-bodies.

I have the '73 A body knuckles, HD rotors from '76 - '78 B body and that's it so far the brackets look like they might be a problem. Also do I use '73 A body ball joints?

Also I don't see MOOG numbers for all of the components, I do see some but random in the book. I'll look again.

Nice write up, Looks very similar to the Tom Condran book. They list P/N 4126545 for the 11 3/4" rotor, I have 4885579 rotor, looks the same also 11 3/4" rotor.

Ball joints stay the same as I remember. Unless you are doing that swap on a 73 and older A body or newer with drums. Its best to get the brake stuff, calipers/rotors/caliper brackets off the same car so you don't have match up issues. If you are running 15" wheels, go for the bigger rotor setup which is 11 3/4". More leverage and surface area for better stopping. You can also use F/M/J spindles plus they are a good source for your brake components. Where is Greenwood? If you are close enough, the Fall Fling is on the 28th in Van Nuys and maybe you can score some needed pieces there otherwise Pick a Part/Ecology is your choice for yards to get a deal.

Looks like Pick a Part is in So. Cali. too far for me to travel. I'll know more this weekend if I get a chance to put together what I already have. Greenwood is just outside of Auburn CA.

Have you considered the Dr Diff kit? It is similar to what is described in the allpar article. Dr Diff is reasonable cost wise and supports what he sells. I'm very happy with the results.

fantastic site but I'm sticking with what the book shows.

The disc-o-tech swap the caliper brackets are expensive, I did it in 2002 for $600. They are repo'd. Think a complete kit would be cheaper. Search on FBBO for other threads on disc swaps, there is a bunch.

I like your '66 convertible I also have a '67 Satellite Convertible. Copper Metallic w/ white interior and white top. Next project after the Charger.

Any Ecology or other you pull it sites in your area? I remember from like 25 years ago the the Pick a Part in Fresno had a grip of Mopars there. Theres bound to be something in your area since Sacto is a large metropolis.

Not that I know of, late 60's are too old. I have the complete ABody brakes off of a dart, I think all I need is the caliper brackets. I can get the calipers at Napa Auto.

This being the republic of Kalifornia the boneheads in government have crushed every old car they could get their slimmy hands on.

In Ct they crush car often no sitting. One j-yard I know is run by Mopar guys, Terryville Auto Salvage they don't crush old mopars. Not mine.
What I did is look in Hemming for j-yards called if they had the caliper brackets I needed. If they said yes, I'd fax'd a picture of the part . Cost me $120 for caliper brackets delivered.
