I took an entire roof off my old Belle and cut a roof off a Coronet. Being new to it I figured if I just spent time cutting out all the old spot welds I couldnt be wrong. The only problem I had to figure out was the front pillar. But I notched it like tetris pieces and it fit together nicely. But was the car worth restoring? Numbers matching 67 Belle maybe maybe not. But it was a silver special. So I guess it had some worth. I kick myself in the balls for trading that car.

If the hood is good and has all the ductwork it would be worth the purchase price. Nice grilles and fenders would be icing on the cake.
I asked.. No hood.. No title.. the 2bbl block from what ever is just sitting in there..

Working on them is at least half the fun but it is much more fun when you have the entire box of puzzle pieces rather than an incomplete one. That car might be worth the $3k with the interior, engine and trans but missing key parts makes it worth $1500 give or take imho.

One you speak of is prob actually the 70 coronet rt six pack black car
I'm thinking the black 69 Coronet R/T trailered around by the Harris Brothers out of Washington.

What an awful place to store it. Looks like whatever is on the ground ended up on the body.

I was thinking on this whole discussion we have here. By some of the logic posted in this topic, anyone restoring a car is an absolute moron. I guess a car is worth to them what they can write a check for. I actually find the hunt more appealing than just buying off the shelf ****. Sure I can go spend 50k on someone else's restored car. I have more fun sitting around a rusted pile o crap thinking about what the next thing is I need to do. Having conversations with friends and talking to people on forums like this are all part of the restoration process. I have seen some guys here doing it themselves and turn out some fantastic work. I have also seen the flip side. Sending the car off for a full rotisserie restoration. <----- Check writers. For some of the guys that actually like doing the work themselves this is why its a hobby. If you can afford to pay for a car that is fully restored hats off to you. But someone is there doing the restoration. I do my own stuff because you would be surprised what people will cover up and pass as a done car. I trust my work not some ones word.
I don't think anyone is saying restoring a car makes someone a moron. What I hear some folks saying is when a mint condition car can bring $40,000 - $50,000, does it make sense to spend more than that on the restoration, that's all.

That makes sense. I can only imagine how much the GYC cars cost to restore. But being as I can do quite a bit of the work less paint myself I see restoration cost go down. I bet in the 9 months it took me to put the roadrunner together I spent most of that time looking for parts and comparing prices. Trying to get the best possible deal. I made the guy an offer we will see if he takes it. Its a lowball but I also told him without that hood it will be worth a lot less. N96 Hoods are not cheap IF you can find one. I did see one on ebay for 1400.00

I also happen to have a 440 with no car to put it in.. lol So this might be why I'm shopping around. Found a few Darts but nothing I need to have.

Yeah, the GYC customers are definately spending 6 figures. Now that is love. But if it is your dream, and you have the means, go for it.

Unfortunately I am not a body and paint guy, I need to farm that out. The rest I can do. I’ve sold all my ‘spare’ parts to put into my Mopar fund. Actually, Robbing the race fund to pay for the Super Bee. You know, like the government.

Well I kinda work on cars in my spare time. And that money would fund the Bee project. Or whatever else I choose to stuff the 440 in. I have traded and swapped parts and the only actual out of pocket money I spent for the 440 was the 800 dollar summit kit. I had a dodge pickup that needed a transmission I pretty much sold it which paid for my machine shop bill. I have bought a bunch of small stuff to make the 440 a nicer engine but that was funded by a timing belt on a Honda Accord. :p And a Brake job on a lexus funded a suregrip and a 489 case. I kinda like doing it this way. Turning wrenches keeps me sane, otherwise I might be the actual asshole i should be. lol

It is not the destination, but the journey!?? lol

Times change.. people give 4 time more now days for a project than that we did 20 years ago and for cars that are not even a decent parts car. And you better be able to do ALL the work on it, or otherwise just pay the $40,000 for a done car.
