Weird, found the tech bulletin from January 15 1969 and I believe they are saying you have to apply the Black after the car is paintedRumor is......The factory painted the black FIRST, then the rest of the body!

EDIT--> I stripped the 70 air grabber hood down to bare metal and went through many coats of paint....the hood had been repainted at least 3 times. Down through the layers I could tell for sure that the black stripes (smooth in 70) were painted AFTER the hood color. There was body color paint underneath all of it. I think the only way I could've been fooled is if "maybe" someone got the hood completely down to bare metal at one time.Rumor is......The factory painted the black FIRST, then the rest of the body!
