We don't have the chrome strips for the back glass. Can we just glue it in some parts store adhesive and expect it to stay put?

local parts store should carry this

Yes you can but it may look like poo. My rear glass was glued in with the modern windshield adhesive but these windows weren't made to fill the void tight so without trim it may look incomplete but you certainly can do it. If you do this be certain to install the trim clips just incase you find some trim later and decide to install it.

I believe he was asking if the sealer would stay not the window glass. Have you looked for the trim or just dont want to use it?

If you do it make sure the window adhesive is compatible with the sealer.
The joint would be to wide for silicone. A backer rope and urethane sealant would be the best option.

I wouldn’t recommend it. Not sure your car, but after spending several hours picking tiny glass pieces out of a race track when a guy in a Javelin decided to roll down his window after the finish line... no.

No tape kits. Only use that to seal gaskets.

I'm not sure what car you have.

If it was 'glued' in you need to use urethane and proper primers. Call your local old school glass shop...
