I got mine from the CMP. Late war Springfield Receiver, re barreled in the 50's, original WW2 stock. Very nice piece. Shoots nice too.

And its "Garand". His story is very interesting as well, worth the read.

Cool pictures. I still have my Garand, June 1944 build with the correct parts and lock bar sights. It is an engineering piece of art, great shooter too!

I love the M1! I agree with the Gunny, "This is the greatest rifle ever made!!". Got a few from the CMP and they are by far the most favorite of my children.

This is my HRA Service Grade Special with a stock I found on feebay:

I want one so bad ! I won one once on gun broker sent the dude the money he then says he didn't receive money it was signed for at his address he gave ! And the certified bank check was signed (his name) and cashed!!! I got my money back he tried playing it off that it wasn't him I finally said dude I don't care I got my cash back now you got the banks money? And they have cameras that see who does what they will find there money!
The following day he say you never guess what happened I got your check and cashed it I thought it was payment from a different person paying for his auction! I'll send the rifle out !

Nope!!!! Keep it I'll find another!
I want one that was used in ww2 to put with my grandpa's stuff from ww 2
He was issued a Thomson org but somehow he traded it for an m1 he didn't want to carry all the extra ammo I guess! I would of done the same thing probably!

I'd love to have one, but I've missed the boat on them I reckon. Those rascals have gotten pricy as heck these last few years.
Only got about a dozen left since I pared down everything to simplify the ammo situation.
The only "vintage" weapon left is my Winchester 94 (gotta have my lever gun, you know).
I've shot the Garand and love the things, just can't afford a keeper now.

I am a former Marine that shot the M-14 in boot camp and the M-1 in infantry training (ITR). In my humble option the M-14 is the best battle rifle ever made. At present I have a Mauser modified with a Douglas barrel and a Russian Mousian Naiant (spelling?) The thing that made the M-14 was the was the peep sights.
