Spool. We run one on the street with M/T Pro bracket radials. Drives fine. Cheap and strong.

just be careful when the road gets wet w/ the spool. Almost the same w/ a locker tho---have driven both on the street, locker now.

Ok
I've run a spool on the street with my 8 3/4, but I'm reading cautionary tales about axle materials(race axles) on the D60 and a spool for the street.

Alright guys, one more question.
Opinions please, Eaton Truetrac or Detroit Locker?
I'm a casual racer unlike many on this forum, but I chose the Eaton Truetrac because of its unique design and outstanding performance on the street and strip for the Quick Performance Ford based highly optioned 9" in the GTO.
I will look at a Eaton Truetrac if I ever need a replacement for the SureGrip in my Dana 60, which I am not hoping for nor expect.

Understood. I commented because I was not aware of the engineering in the Eaton, and I wanted to throw that comment out there. It's really nice, but maybe not right for you, I don't know.

Thanks
My best friend is running one of the Eatons in his 60, but it's mostly a cruiser/car show toy. If he would ever turn it lose on the track i'm not sure what would go first the Eaton or 727, he's running a twin turbo 470.

While we are on the topic, where does the Dana 60 SureGrip fall in the hierarchy?
I am, little by little, building up my 70 V-Code Track Pack Roadrunner. I recently had a shop swap out the 3.54 for a 4.10 ring and pinion with all of the associated new parts. My goal is 6XX HP and well into the 6XX torque. I run the Passon Performance a855 5 speed, and I am confident in its capabilities to handle that power level.
Thanks for any input on the SureGrip.

I run a Detroit Locker and it works fine for me. No problems at all. Once in a while I hear a little click/clunk when it locks back up but not to much. Most of the time I don't even know its back there. Ron

The Strange S trac is what I run in my S60, works great !!! it cost a little more . Dr Diff can fix you up with the proper S60.

This setup had a spool, MW billet cap/adjusters and housing brace.
This is a cautionary tale for me. I have gone low eleven as well, on slicks, but with a totally stock 8 3/4 with a clutch suregrip and stock axles. My only saving grace is that my car doesn't 60 ft well.
It looks like a Dr diff s-60 is in my future as well.

How heavy is your car? My car weighs 3830-3850# depending on how much fuel is in it.
Drag radials are harder on parts than slicks are.

With my '65 Coronet I changed to a Dana 60. First used a used Power Lock 4 series. Turned out years of use in a SS/A Cuda had warped the ring gear mounting flange. A switch to a Strange spool and MANY hundred runs with 11'00 to 10.50 no problems. Tube car Arrow MW Dana many hundred runs no problems. My Satellite has a stock type Dana with Moser axles & a stock Power lock. Still goes fine but drives a little left. Spool is likely in the future. Dana's are heavy but they don't break with 650 to 700+ HP & a 3700# car.

Mine's 3250, 3450 with me in it. I currently use a 3.91 and a Detroit locker. Fairly light is probably the only reason it's still in one piece.
