That picture makes more sense than the other picture.....now that one I can agree with......Yours paint is too shiny
The material data sheets for Evaporust specifically state "Contains no solvents, acids, bases or hazardous ingredients" so I'd think no phosphoric acid. Besides, phosphoric acid solutions are converters that turn rust black, not remove it. Evaporust uses a chelating agent to remove iron oxide, like a molasses solution but much faster. The tip you made about using oxalic acid is a good one; an oxalic acid solution is a chelating agent. Perhaps that is what is in Evaporust?
So you are saying well hung?On a tag that was clearly hung.....not one that was lifted....
Their TDS sheet lists ph as 6 - 7.1, presumably starting at 6 and weakening as it gets used up. So, less acid than tea or coffee.it sure acts like a weak acid to me
now you are going to make me check its ph
I looked at the Safety Data Sheet & you are correct Photon...no phosphoric acid. My "guess" would then be citric acid + a chelating agent. There certainly is "some" type of acid in it or it wouldn't dissolve rust, regardless of what their sales literature says. The material data sheets for Evaporust specifically state "Contains no solvents, acids, bases or hazardous ingredients" so I'd think no phosphoric acid. It does help thanks! Amazon has it for $15 for 2 lbs. what else can I use this for? Can I use it for like trunk surface rust etc?
fyi...vinegar and lemon juice will also work to kill rust
the thing about that and molasses' is they will have to soak in it for
a couple of days, even weeks to work well.
evaporust will work overnight.
