Sway bar tabs 63 plymouth sport fury

My lower control arm doesn't have sway bar tabs on it. I searched around on this site and it looks like in 1963 the optional sway bar didn't attach to the LCA? The FSM doesn't say much about it, but it does mention a frame bracket. Could I add the sway bar tabs to my lower control arm and use a later model sway bar? Thanks!
 
You could, but the simplest way is to order a sway bar that comes with “L” brackets. They use the lower shock bolt to hold them in place.

On the early B body cars the anti-sway bar end links clamped to the strut rods. I think I have an original bar with all of the mounting brackets stashed up in my storage area. It is rare to find those early B body bars, I haven't seen many cars with them installed. I did a heavy duty version of the factory setup on my '65 Coronet. I bent up a big bar from chrome moly tubing and then clamped the ends to the strut rods just like the factory did.

Is there any benefit one way or the other with attaching the tabs to the LCA or getting the aftermarket setup other than ease of installation?

There are tradeoffs with each design. Typically the best approach is to use the design that the factory engineers evolved too rather than the first or second design. They had reasons for changing the design.
 
Im in the process of replacing the lower control arm bushings on my 64 fury. I had a control arm left over from my challenger with a factory sway bar bracket on it. I have another factory bracket I will add to the other control arm after I replace the bushing. then I am going to use a leftover challenger Factory sway bar . the only thing needed to make it fit is to releave the k member so the sway bar can go through the k member inside. When they built E bodys the raided the parts bins and used existing b body parts. all the same.....
