There's no way this looks factory way to rough a cut. How can you tell if your car came with a radio? No Broadcast sheet but do have fender tag, had it decoded and no mention of a radio. Starting body work and would like to fix if not optioned for one. Thanks Chewy

In the line of capital letters R is for the radio.
It looks like your car was not ordered with one.
My R has a 1 under it decodes to AM Radio.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Trying to get picture of hole on fender to show how bad but can't get it to post.

The factory hole is very neatly done as you would imagine.
A repair and it will be all sorted.
My radio does work but it is next to useless these days.

finally got it to work. Your right this is way to bad, going to patch it up Thanks

@moparnation74 in his thread said dealers cut the hole for antennas, factory put antennas in the trunk. I wondered why my antenna was on passenger side rear quarter near the top. Saw another on driver's same place on quarter.

That's possible because the hole is in the exact spot it should be. Either done at dealer, measured off Another car or Really Lucky.

I didn’t say dealers cut a hole for the antenna....the factory placed the mast part of the antenna in the trunk for shipping purposes in a brown bag. When the car arrived the dealer they installed the mast.

The hole and the base of the antenna were installed at the factory and connected to the radio.

Dam, I read what I wanted to believe. Justin any ideas on why my antenna was on the quarter panel? Guess I have to pull splash shield to see if there was a hole, don't think so. Thanks for clarifying that for me.

No worries Fran.

Best way to tell is as you said. Pull the splash and look at the top bracing. You might be able to see from the door hinge area....

My car had the antenna in the quarter panel when I bought it. I tracked down the original owner, and he said the dealer gave him a choice of antenna location, when he bought the car. The car is coded for a radio, but the front fender has no hole for an antenna and never did. It appears to be the original fender by the under coating and paint in the wheel well. It also has the correct mopar plug in the wheel well area to plug off the antenna wire. I checked the part number on the plug and that is it's purpose. So who knows?

That hole was drilled with a drill bit and not a hole saw or punch. There is also framework under the fender with a hole in it to locate the outer hole.
