Man I'm starting to get pissed. I was searching for 03-04 Cummins found one and bought it. He had paperwork for a rebuilt trans that was done in October, new 37s and alot of other new parts. It was alot and I could see the parts were new. Anyway the trans started leaking, then the heater fan stopped, now I just noticed a front caliper blew up. The trans shop told me to get bent, I rewired the tail lights and bought new ones(i knew that when i bought it), just bought the ignition switch to fix the blower now the caliper. WTF? It was fine when I looked at it and a week later before I handed him the cash. Think the truck hates me. Cant sell it the way it is, and if I fix it I might as well keep it, my good deal turned bad.

Sorry to hear that ESOXER. That sucks.
I have always turned on the "force" when I buy a used vehicle. I drive it and see if it "talks" to me. If it doesn't, I walk away.
Whenever I made a mistake, I always kept them, fixed them, and they have always served me well.
Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and move on.

Sorry about that. I have a 04 with over 300K miles. I found a 06 a little over a year ago with 104K. I bought it so that I would have something for my daily work truck so that I could make some necessary repairs to the 04. The 04 had never gave me any trouble other regular maintenance, but it needed the front end rebuilt, the brake system rebuilt and some other time consuming things. This I think pissed the 04 off. The day after I bought the 06 home the A/C quit on the 04 . I chalked it up as regular maintenance and miles. I replaced the compressor, orfice line all o-rings etc. Placed a new 10 Amp fuse in the compressor circuit which was why we replaced the compressor. We charged the system and everything seems great. I drive it around the building and the A/C is out again. Another blown fuse. This is ridiculous I can replace the fuse crank it up, it cools, I can back it up even a half a mile and it cools. I can drop it in drive, it cools, but as soon as I start to move forward the fuse blows. I forgot about the A/C and did everything else I wanted to get done before returning to that issue. Now other electrical issues are making codes for everything. Currently I am chasing grounds as that is what the dealer and several independent shops have told us. I'm in the same boat as you, I can't sell it like it is and if I fix it I'm going to keep it, it's a rebuild truck now. I feel your pain.

Sorry to hear as well. Back in the day I bought a chevy S10 (first mistake) but it was used and cheap and I was broke. I drove it off the lot. The next morning I pull into works parking lot, I lost the brakes and the head gasket before I got to my parking spot! Not even a day! I fixed it and drove it

Good luck!!

Check your condenser fan, that fuse blows when the fan shorts out internally. Very common, I've done a lot of those.

At an average of 12,000 miles per year, which is low, I'm guessing that the truck must have at least 200 grand or more on it. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but due to the mileage, as well as the age of the velicle, I'm not surprised to hear that components are failing.

Caveat emptor: the principle that the buyer alone is responsible for checking the quality and suitability of goods before a purchase is made.

I feel your pain. I traded my 93 F150 on a 08 Dodge Ram, man I wish I hadn't. This truck has more problems than I care to deal with and to make it worse, I get to make payments on it for the next 3 years. It gets me from A to B for now but it is going to cost me more than I feel it's worth.

My 2005 Cummins Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 quad cab, was the best vehicle that I have ever owned. Usually if you get one that has issues like the OP said, it wasn't properly maintained. I would still be driving mine if not for a tire blow out, that tore out the fusebox and wiring harness.

"Caveat Emptor" most closely means:
was a question on one of my high school Civics tests. It was multiple choice, and I knew the correct answer, but the teacher had "the cave is empty" as one of the possible multiple choice answers. Lol.

a tire blowing up like that took out the front fender
on my daily 74 challenger I drove from 92 up into 2000s
it blew the headlights out of the trim rings
and broke up the header panel
never got that car back on the road since then
it still sits in my garage all apart with the front end ripped off and the motor out and gone and the rear is out also
I do have a pair of Rallye fenders and raisin hood for the car.
will probably mod hemi it when I get to it.
its not a B body so its at the back of the line..

A 72 Gremlin is a piece of s”*t. Owned one of those. A weekly repair task to keep it going.

It's 17 years old. Repairs will be needed and it will nickel and dime you as that is probably why the other guy sold it.

that car was gonna' be the death of me or her

what a freaken' POS

My 05 Ram 3500 has been pretty good too, but has a few issues needing repair. One is the drivers seat adjusters got stripped out, so I can't adjust the seat. The other is the trans valve body shifter detent ball (Hard to shift out of park.)

I knew that going in. Wanted an 03-04 because it had 4 doors, no emissions and 2 injection events instead of 3 like 04.5 and up. 211k, Has new long arm 6" lift, new 37s, new Bilstiens, new water pump, thermostat, 5" driveshaft, 3" front driveshaft, calipers(I know), drilled slotted rotors and ceramics, 50+ injectors with 50k on them and all light were led converted. Actually if it wasnt for the tran leak I wouldn't care, it was rebuilt in October with 2k on it, **** kit, billet shaft, triple disc with paperwork and builder said too bad not the original owner. My bad on that I guess. Just grumpy now, after the trans its little stuff I can fix in an afternoon

37's on it would have made me pass on it! Anyone that puts something like that on a vehicle is going to abuse it. Sorry, but that's me. Bought a 97 diesel in 2001 and it 'talked' to me. The only thing I wasn't crazy about is the guy had been pulling a 5th wheel with it (still had the hitch in the bed) and well, what else are these trucks built for. Everything else looked stock and it ran really well. In fact, it ran soooo much better than any other 5 year old truck that had been test driven. Btw, I still have it and the transmission is still working well...knock on wood but did have to finally replace the rearend gears recently but that might have been somewhat of a result of doing several smoky burnouts with it :D. Thing is, figured the trans would be the first to go and not the gears.

I like big tires:thumbsup: and lifted vehicles, I know they wear suspension parts quicker, but I guess I didnt expect it so soon lol. Like I said before all the other things I'm ok with it's the trans that chaps my *** and makes everything else suck so much worse.
