Brand New (to me) '70 Sport Satellite 318

Should I put a bulge hood with GTX stripes on the car?

Hey everyone! I'm excited to tell you that a couple of friends joined me in a 15-hour drive from Dayton, Ohio to Dallas, TX to pick up a '70 Sport Satellite last weekend. We trailered it back home in about 20 hours. It's a 318 automatic numbers matching car with black vinyl top, PS,PB, A/C and buckets with floor console. Lemon Twist Y1 is the color. I have lots of receipts and information on previous owners. It was made in LA, sold originally in California and later to a guy in Texas.

I don't have plans yet for this Satellite. VERY solid frame, quarters, floor pans and rockers. Trunk will need replaced. Some rust at the rear window moulding. I'm trying to decide if I'll clone a GTX or leave it alone. It has an awful lot of yellow and needs some kind of striping - which would involve opening emblem holes on the quarters... I would like to drop in a 440 someday.

Congratulations on your find, and hope you enjoy it immensely! In my humble opinion, leave it as a satellite, as I believe there probably are a lot fewer of them left.

EVERBODY turns a Sport Satty into a GTX clone. Its harder to find a SS than a GTX any more....

:welcome:

Beautiful car and options!

I would leave it as is.
A loaded, matching numbers, documented, 318 flatty Satty is more interesting than just another GTX clone; at least to me.

Wow. Very nice. It appears to be in great shape. I would like to see more pics. Front, rear, interior etc.

Saw it on Craig’s! Loved it! Owner never replied to me though. Glad you got it!

leave it a Sport Satellite Please!

Welcome to the sickness, all I can say is make it yours. We all have slightly different tastes. AS LONG AS IT'S MOPAR:drinks::drinks:

Welcome from Missouri!! Looks nice to me!! Call it whatever you want, it's a very nice SS to me, no shame in that!!

Very nice SS. Have fun making it yours especially if you’re going to keep it.I have a 68 satellite that the satellite stuff was gone when I got it and have found it is very hard to nearly impossible to find satellite parts so if you have all the satellite parts keep that way for my car still looking for parts

Nice car.

Personally I'd leave it a Satellite but I might put on a RR hood with associated blackout.

Even with the black top, it's still too much Y1 for you?

I like both Y1 colors, 66 Med Bronze Poly and 70 Lemon Twist/Top Banana and have owned a car in each.

...and as I tell every new member form the Southeastern Ohio area.....I spent my mid teen years street racing my basically bone stock but carefully tuned and "zero dollar" performance modded 66 Coronet 318 poly on Woodman Drive.

Welcome!

What a great looking car! Good luck with it. Of course, do what you want with it, but I think it is very cool just as it is. Rather than making excuses about it not being a "real" GTX, you can brag about a real survivor Sport Satellite. Swap or tune the engine, but I'd leave the badging alone!

Either way, good luck!

welcome to FBBO

Do what ever makes you happy

who cares what others think

use what ever parts you deem necessary

it's your car, not anyone else's

I voted for a bulge hood & stripe, just to be different &
not just be part of the crowd/majority :poke:
I like day 2 cars, especially with subtle touches
as long as it's not something really rare, I say "go for it"

& there's nothing wrong with a reg. Sport Satellite either

to each their own
