LOL, Wife just talked to her Father.... he just came back from the liquor store and bought another case of rum and a couple bottles of Coke. Told the Wife he'll come back when the "**** show" is over, when ever that is !! He's 80, just got moved into his new house that he had built last Summer in Port Charlotte and "what ever happens.. happens" !

I'm not too worried about him. He's a stubborn Dutchman..came to Canada with the entire family when he was 6 (youngest of 11 kids). His Mother lived to be 96 and his old man lived to be 98 and if that don't work I have partnership insurance on him that I could use to buy Mopar John's Daytona and a few other toys with !!

Man I'm over in Melbourne yeah snow birds are everywhere but they usually are! Everything is running normally . I wouldn't worry to much on the kung flu tons of false positives people get tested get a positive wife and kids will be neg they get a real test not a drive threw and oh look there not positive now!

I saw the drive threw testing is like 20% correct! So 80% is crap!
I don't wear a mask I do nothing different then from the before time! I haven't gotten it !

Its very possible one person could be positive for Covid and others in the family test negative.
As far as your other comments that you dont wear a mask and haven't gotten Covid, consider yourself lucky, but the question you might think about is not about you....Think about if you did get Covid and gave it to another person, maybe a older person or a person with health issues and they didn't do well...

I honestly don't care to hear the arguments about masks nor whether someone thinks we should or should not go, only if the State is functioning to the point where it can be enjoyed. If you disagree move along.

I like you Steve but I really get tired of the shaming, honestly I see it the opposite as that. People pressuring others to do something against there own will so they can feel safe is selfish in my eyes, stay at home? I don't care either way, we just need to let everyone be free to take care of themselves as they see fit and quit the judging... and no I don't wear one but do respect those who do by keeping my distance while in public.

If you dont want to hear or read arguments which I did not do than do not read the posts. Am I pressuring James? No, I simply told him to think about others, maybe his elders for example.
The bigger picture is its ok in your eyes when someone posts they think Covid is over blown, masks aren't needed, vaccines are a govt conspiracy, that fails to bother you but when I point out wearing masks protects others you feel compelled to reply to me.

A woman we know from church/school, same age schoolmate of my sons, kid was over my house mine over hers many times.
She's a grown woman married and has a special needs child, a ten year old in a wheel chair..... Her and her husband came down with Covid, than the kid got it and died and so they buried their child..... I have no idea if they wore masks or didnt, my son heard about it through mutual friends
When you go out and about and are around other people and you refuse to wear a mask because of some self serving bullshit attitude you run the risk of infecting your loved ones. If your ok with taking that risk thats on you
My wife has incurable cancer, she has a weakened inmmune system.
I wear a mask to protect her, to protect me as I dont want her to try and care for me if I got sick and to protect anyone else around me, family or complete strangers
So the next God damm time you ever have the F-ing nerve to publicly call me out and hand me your crap understand why I have the attitude I do and why I react the way I do,,,You and anyone else here

I’ll say it again coquina beach is absolutely beautiful, also Anna Maria island but that tends to get crowded with tourists.

I started this thread to hear from the folks in Florida not to hear more mask debates and not to get the shame game going on yet another thread.

No it doesn't bother me to hear either side of the debate, I agree with points from both sides. Point is this isn't in the political section and it's not a thread about mask (read the title), it's about whether or not Florida is worthy of visiting. I only responded to yours because I saw the direction the thread was headed and thought the IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU JAMES comment was rude.. that's it. I'm sick of hearing people treat others as if their ignorant if they hold a different perspective.

I use common sense, yes Covid is real, yes it can be downright nasty, yes the numbers are far from accurate, no a mask cannot filter the virus, yes a mask can prevent spreading (if your coughing or sneezing at which point I can pull my shirt over my face in plenty of time)....

I know your situation to an extent and completely expect you to do as you are, no problem there whatsoever. My problem is everyone telling everyone else what to do constantly, you have to look out for the sick, keep them isolated and let society go on.

Both sides have been heard. Let's get back to Florida.

The neighbors both retired and are at Manasota Keys (south of St. Pete.) Looks like a nice area. We have been to Fla. many times but can't go for another few years because of the wife's position with the city. Audit first then the budget to get through. May be we can sneak down in late March or April after she gets done. Well, her responsibility never goes away. She probably won't retire for a few more years. I hope I'm able to enjoy it then. LOL

I have family that lives in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area. And are not interested in travelers this year. They have as much issues with virus as most metropolitan areas of the country. Hospitals near or at compacity. There are areas that are better with distancing than downtown nightlife. But don't expect all locals to welcome you with open arms.

No worries here, as I've said many times we don't do the downtown nightlife, bars, restaurant's, etc. Nobody will even know we're there.

I think the neighbors are like that as well. They don't golf or hang out at Disney. They rent a 1 bedroom with a kitchenette and just hang out with each other and at the beach. Just relaxing and no need to be entertained. They will sight see a few places driving down and back.

I wouldn't mind stopping by some distilleries on my travels. That would be fun. I would like to see the Garlits museum and I have a friend not far from Cape Canaveral to see.

I have a friend that just flew down to Florida because everything is open... She actually ended up having to stay 3 more days due to snow here in the Northeast and all flights were canceled. Sounded like she had a great time as everything is open for those who wish to go to it... Plenty to see and do down there...

This is what my boy and I enjoyed the most, hours of exploring old forts and learning the history. When my wife and I honeymooned in Riviera Maya, Mexico I had more fun exploring the Mia ruins then anything else... well except ya know
