So I ordered a new set of trans cooler lines a few days ago from Inline Tube for my 64 Sport Fury 426-S. The website stated 1962-64 Plymouth/Fury V8 5/16 Trans cooler lines 3 piece. So being a wee bit skeptical and having never in 40 years witnessed ANY 727 Torqueflite using 3 piece lines I inquired to the young gentleman on the phone why? After some thought and keyboard clicks he informed me that the 3 piece wording must be a typo and my car should use two lines to which I whole heartedly agreed. The order was placed and low and behold 2 quick days later (great shipping) my box of cooler lines appear. I open the box and there were 3 pieces bundled together to my surprise and shock. One of the lines is correct but the other line was in two pieces with a union to put them together. Am I missing something here?

the early cars had an external trans filter, kinda looked like a gm efl fuel filter, it was mounted in the trans lines along the engine oil pan. the kit you have must have been made for it , and if not they gave you a union to by pass it.

There must be some reason. Fine lines shows a 3 piece as well as a 2 piece. They claim the 3 piece is with an inline filter. I would demand a better answer.

So would a 64 Sport Fury have come factory equipped with a filter?

Cause I do not see one listed in my parts book

I have never seen one. If you are after 100% originality send them back. If not and they look and fit good use them. Some applications a two piece line may go in place a lot easier.

I am just about 100% sure my cooler lines are original to the car like most everything else..just a few small kinks and lots of discoloration after 56 years so I just wanted to freshen them up.

I most certainly will not be installing these..that I can tell you.

So if you are about 100% originality you do not want those ones.

Maybe they, Inline, can tell me what year set will work.

See, that's why I love this site! Why couldn't Inline include that info as well!? Thanks pnora!

And I don't think there is a points deduction for SS lines.

Ok, I see em now...fantastic.

Just saw this post and my 64 Sport Fury does not have the inline filter and the lines are original to the car. I had a 63 Fury that did have the inline filter for the transmission. Just my 2 cents.... :luvplace:

It's when they went to the internal filter. The early 727 had the external filter and a mesh filter inside. The pans and valve body changed slightly also.
