Today I installed new batteries in my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins automatic trans, and I noticed two either solonoids or relays that are bolted to the battery tray on the passengers side. One of them melted and the post with the wire that goes to the side of the positive cable is no longer connected to it. They are both supposed to look the same, the whole boot on the wire and the post melted right off. I assume it is part of the dual battery system. I need to replace it,but I don't know what it is called or what it does. I need to replace it before I start driving it regularly again,so if anyone knows what it's called and what it does, that would be great,so I can get a replacement part for it! Thanks Pete.

Battery temp is one and the other may have something to do with the grid heater. I have a 07 Cummins but my heater grid relay is a lot bigger and different looking.

The heater elements do fail but you can test that for an open circuit..they aren’t to bad to repair either.
