Any suggestions for suppliers of carpet sets? I see that ACC makes them. They want $285 on their website for a set (71GTX) and when I check other suppliers such as Classic, it's half the price. Either the mfgr is pointing people to their distributors by having MSRP, or I'm not getting apples to apples. Where is the good stuff? Thanks!

ECS was selling carpet, I do believe it was made by ACC. The carpet they sold was unique and had more meat around the sides and was better for figment as it was shipped flat.

Every time I drift off and chase a "better price", I regret it. I had a real bad experience with a head liner. Correct material...but cut wrong.

When it comes to interiors, I go to Legendary. Everything fits like it should. The extra work...to save $50 with Brand X...no value there.
Just my limited experience.

There's a reason that nobody says: restoring an old car is cheap.

Agree with the premise of getting what you pay for. But in some cases, you're paying more for the exact same thing. For example is Legendary a distributor of ACC for their carpets, or do they actually make them? I'm looking for the best product at the lowest prices

Shipped flat sounds good. Takes forever for this stuff to unwrinkle the past couple of times, even using steam. I'll try them too. Interesting that every supplier out there uses the same exact pictures for the carpet

Has anyone bought the "mass backing" on carpets? If so, how did it fit? I was going to put down some mastic for sound deadner, but maybe this is easier and just as effective?

They don't show any on their website anymore. thanks though.

Maybe @69bfan can weigh in on this subject?

I have bought a few ACC carpet sets from Jamie at Mega Parts. He quit selling them because of shipping costs so I had to find another source. Rock Auto was the cheapest by far that I could find, and yes they are ACC.

Thanks for everyone's input. Appreciate it. Think I'll go with Rock and put in some sound deadner under it.

Rock auto will be way less than the first price you got even with mass backer. I bought an ACC carpet with mass backer from rock auto for a 69 and it was great, not too hard to instal at all. Can’t speak for noise difference as the car has a built motor with headers and dual exhaust etc so it’s just generally kind of noisy. Also all the mass backer and dyno mat you can put down doesn’t nothing to stop noise and heat transfer through the 4 speed shifter hole…. I think alot of the noise and heat also transfers where the carpet doesn’t cover, rear seat area, package tray, and behind the dash where the carpet stops going up the firewall etc…

A lady with ACC customer service told me their prices were higher than their wholesale customer's prices because they buy at bulk prices and sell huge quantities.

Rock Auto is about the lowest price.

I bought mass back carpet for my El Camino. Fits like crap. The mass back is stiff and can't be reshaped, even after being in the got sun in concrete driveway several hours. Much harder to cut than regular carpet.

Better to use good sound dampener and regular carpet.

I have heard those complaints about the mass backing carpets. The regular ones always work fine for me.

my friends shop orders 15-20 ACC carpets a year from Rock Auto. He's been dealing with them for 10 years now, they have been the cheapest place to buy from. They use Dynamat first, then they put carpets down on all their cars they do.

Got a new carpet from Legendary in the spring, came in an ACC box… Didn’t use it. While the best thing available it’s still no comparison to the factory carpet. Took the rug doctor to it, dried it and put it back in.
