Break out the spark machine..

A few quick beads, that'll work. Note the incorrect bumper bolt.

Welds cleaned up. Hole oval'd a bit closer to OE.

Found a couple of old bumper bolts for the lower edge.

Quick paint so she don't rust.

Like I said, reassemble, not a restoration.

Ready to MIG that nut into the frame rail.

Step one before welding on a full undercoat car. Air compressor on and ready to blow.

Nut welded in, frame cleaned up and a quick paint.

New bumper bolts into place.

Working off some pounds from Christmas meals. The solo snatch and jerk, holding bumper with one hand and head while blindly installing bolts with the other hand. Just glad I ran a tap through all nuts first and cleaned the bolts!

We're getting there !

The boys buried my hidden VIN in paint again. Hopefully I can scuff it out one more time without losing it. It's stamped so light it won't take much more...

New Soft Seal trunk seal. It was the only one I could get last year and while I don't like it's "oversize" compared to DMT's correct one that I used on the Bee, it's what I've got. Label shows 63-76 A body, but it's correct profile for B bodies as well.

Need to scuff up the paint for the glue to bite first.

Figured I may as well dig out the hidden VIN, one more time, so it's exposed for proof of a true Superbird when the kids go to sell it !

Here she comes.

A0 170163 = Lynch Road, 1970, VIN # 170163. The 500th Superbird assembled at Clairpointe !

Scuff scuff..

We don't want it rusting !

Time to glue that weather strip down. My preferred. It's even Yellow like factory !

Ready to do the first section. Can never figure out why people use clothes pins doing this..

Glue on both surfaces and let dry for 10 minutes, it's just contact cement in a tube!

First straight section down.

Corner glued up, now eat jelly beans for 10 minutes.

Corner down, now glue from there to just shy of the VIN stamp.

Glue to just shy of the VIN stamp. That way the seal can be pushed out of the way to prove provenance.

Making our way around. No glue on the car so far!

Don't forget the drain gap!

Glue on and another 10 minutes on the internet...

Lid even closes nicely !

Isn't the seam supposed to be off-center towards the right from the trunk latch a couple inches?

Goes where ever a line worker stuck it to start. Bee is / was offset to the left. This one's not centered either...although center would actually make sense for drainage.

I know that somewhere you can drive a car where there isn’t any dust. Our 89 LeBaron Coupe had a slight gap on the bottom trunk seal. That sucker must create a vacuum because when driven on country roads it would suck in dust. Closed the gap and no more dust.
Our Chargers don’t have a gap, so is this gap something to do with the change in design?

Glued down in place it'd be lucky if there's a 1/32 gap left. If dust gets in through that I'll eat it...

Thanks. Still all the door glass to re-install, door seals and cards but of course everyone has seen all of that before. Need to get the car cut and polished and then I can do that and decals.

Removing the old pre 90's sidepipe mount. I'd been leaving them there for history, but the body shop took the right side off but didn't do the left. Figured I may as well make them match at this point. Next I can spray some rubberized undercoat to clean it all up and match the other side.

Some new body bolts blasted and painted for hood and trunk lid.

Spent a few hours swapping in the correct hinge bolts and playing with gaps.. happy with most everything other than the fact body and paint didn't address some dork setting the hood on it's ears in the 80's. I like mine sharp, but too late now
