What do you guys use to add to the tank to clean your carb and fuel system.

I've used Lucas as well as STP high mileage fuel and carb cleaner.

I was recently told that marvelous mystery oil fuel additive would be better to use, so was looking to see what you guys thought.

Gasoline usually has cleaning agents added at the depots, just as the tank trucks pick it up to disperse it to the retail outlets. That is all you need.

What he said, the ethanol in today's gas cuts lose most any buildup of crud in your tank or carb bowels. Additives such as Sea Foam can help with pushing any moisture thru the system if you think that's a problem.
Ive never run E 15 in a carbed motor but it has a higher content of ethanol than E 10, which is the normal mix of today fuel.
When gas stations first began selling E 10 they had to spend some pretty big bucks on cleaning their underground tanks. If not, the E 10-15 would cut the build up loose and folks engines were crapping out big time.

For the past 50 years I’ve used……..nothing.

It’s funny how everyone has mentioned modern fuels have magical cleaning agents ….. yet we know ethanol is nasty and gums everything up ……..

Anyway The 3 I’ve used is

1. seafoam , but it’s a little expensive sometimes and that’s one I can’t really tell if it actually does anything or not, but it’s been what a lot of people used for decades so must be doing something

2. So chevron is the one I use more often. I’ve seen dalton on pole barn garage who is not sponsored by anyone and does what he wants and is a no BS guy uses it so I thought I’d give it a try. my gas gauge doesn’t work so I take a peek in the tank to check fuel levels , and I noticed the fuel looked “milky” or something about the color was off and it was running different, I poured a bottle in and the next time I checked the tank it looked a lot cleaner.

3. Gum out is another one I use often. I’ve heard it on this forum and others that the Regane, whatever it is, is a good cleaner. I recently went on a road trip and got bad gas in a small town , this is what was available in the town I was in and it made a noticeable difference.

Techron and seafoam are good additives IMO and have been for years. I wouldn't have a problem using Lucas either.

BG 44k has a good reputation and we used it quite a bit at the shop I work at until their rep disappeared.

The ethanol eats up the insides of regular fuel lines. I can see it in my filter and bottom of fuel bowls.

There’s a fuel injection rated line that doesn’t get eaten up. It’s a J-spec I believe of some sort.

Stabil 360. It treats ethanol and is also a fuel system cleaner. I run it year round in the GTX and all my small power. I also avoid LAC gas and stick with top tier, mostly the Shell 93 is what I run.

Not all gas is the same.
