Opinions needed. Gut my race trans for good parts or build another with new street parts?

I have a 1965 slip yoke push button race trans with about 20 street miles on it after a refresh.
- low gear set
- billet steel drum
- A&A RMVB
- deep B&M pan
- all the other race stuff, no expense spared. It's a beast and not suited for the street by any means. It's HARSH.

I'm going full street now and have another 1965 slip yoke trans. It will be equipped with a factory A&A stock automatic valve body and factory max wedge kick down and billet steel drum. I'll need to swap in a later input shaft and whatever else I need. I'm keeping the 9.5" converter.

The race trans should bring a good price but if not, it might be worth it to cannibalize it for parts for the street trans.

Anyway, opinions are welcome.

Personally, I would just take out the low gear set and the RMVB. Replace it with a stock ratio front planetary, sun shell, your new A&A valve body, and run it. You already spent the money for the trans to be built for safe track use. May as well get your moneys worth and drive it on the street.

I'd run it as is. Hard shift isn't going to hurt anything. It'll be safe and last forever. If you swap the VB it'll need kick down parts. If the rear pump parts and governor parts are missing it'll need them as well. 65 race trans are a nitch item. Got to find someone who runs them. I'm assuming it's set up for push button, not the original 65 valve body.

Leave the good one intact. Build another if you have to. I'd run the race trans. As is.
I bet it's not harsh if you start in second and shift to third at 1500.

I always start off in 2nd, 1st gear is too touchy and winds out quick - that low gear set is no joke. The trans really needs to go to a NSS racer. Punching buttons is fun at the track but is tiresome in traffic.

Maybe you need to find one of these. B&M for a pushbutton trans. Lol.

Is your thumb weak, lol. My wife drives my street car around. Just leaves it in 3rd. At light throttle it could care less.
