Went to a local fair today. They had a tractor pull and, of course, tractors.

I recall red being in everyone’s shed around me. I recall using a 230,340,M,H,656,7&856... a few others too. Love the old tractors!
 
I grew up on tractors. Red IH’s and yellow MM’s. When I make the time I need to finish the overhaul of my late father’s MM G-1000 Vista, then a tune-up on the 4-star. Then I need to split the U-302 super I got from uncle Jack. I spin uncle Don’s Silver King every time I see it.
 
My first memory is of Dad's Ford 8 or 9N tractor being delivered on a flatbed truck. I would have been 3 at the time. This replaced Grand Dad's 2 horses on the farm. Dad later had a 1954 Ferguson 2085 on our 100 acre general farm, and still later, a 1964 John Deere 1010. The 35 h.p. J.D. ran our hay baler a lot better than the smaller Ferguson. After I left the farm to find my own employment, a larger David Brown showed up.
 
I definitely have a love of old Iron that goes beyond cars and trucks. I enjoy going to the working antique shows but havent made it to any this year. The Avery tractor below is from Albany days at Albany, KS. I usually attend their show in September. As far as classics go I own a '45 M farmall. I drove it 10 miles home from a auction when I was 13 in '85. I spent hundreds of hours cultivating with it. I bought a stroker engine kit last summer for it. I never seem to have time to work on it. It should go from 45hp to 90-100hp.
Grandpa's '36 F20 sits in a tree row and his U302 MM is in the barn w the heads off. I burnt a valve out plowing w it when I was in high school. Both were bought new along with a '52 Ferguson TO20.
The most awesome tractor I have ever run was homemade. It had two 8v92 Detroits with scraper rearends and a scraper articulated joint. They used the glass out of a tugboat to make the cab. They called it big blue. My cousin and his son built it in the 70s. My brother and I put a 450hp 8v92TA in the front for them. The back engine had 380hp. For a total of 830hp. I wish I had pictures.
Here's a few pictures of the ones we put to work yet. Our Ih 5288 and Mx240 and Dads MM G1000vista. One of our Cat challenger tractors its a 75c.

As a matter of fact, I am. In my garage is a 1953 Golden Jubilee, 1956 640, 1958 641, and just for the heck of it, a newer Massey 4x4. Yesterday was a great tractor day as we had all 4 of them out for different tasks. Much to my wife's dismay, I am kind of searching for another 641. If any of you know of a decent one of those within driving distance of west central WI, let me know :thumbsup: .

There used to be an Oliver tractor salesman who lived in my house.
There were matchbooks with his name on them in a little cupboard in my carriage house (barn).

I grew up on a poor a$$ farm in Montana. When I was a kid I really liked running the tractors, we had 2 old Allis Chalmers units, I guess they kinda imprinted on me. Now I have 4 Allis Chalmers and 1 International 300 utility. I bought them all cheap in broken non running condition. I use the loader a lot now, saves my back. I built a forklift attachment for it, rarely do I use the bucket.

I do have an old tractor that i use for my mower and stuff.
This is one of my antique engines. Four horse Famous.

A few photos from the barn today. Grandpa built the barn around 1920, he used cottonwood trees as poles. In the second photo the horse stalls are in the background. Thete is a Farmall 450 along with Dads IH 706 (I spent most my time running as a kid), Grandpa's MM U302 propane and Ferguson TO20. In the other picture is our first G1000vista, Massey Ferguson 97, and a Farmall F20. They've been in the barn for several decades.
Lots of memories stashed away.

Tractors are cool
I have a 275 case ih for my home maintenance
But I have 3 Deeres a 38 A, 49A and a 59 830 plus a couple old belt driven implements and a Van Brunt grain drill that was originally horse drawn unit.

we were red in our family. I like most all brands. I have my grandfather's 200 Farmall he bought new. and I have a newer Farmall 35 I mow the lawn with and a loader on it to lift car parts LOL.
 
My 1950 Allis-Chalmers been in the family for as long as I can remember
Legend has it grandpap won it in a poker game LOL

We're 2nd owners of this Super MTA..Neighbor bought this one new..our is a gas and we still use it. Starting on gas and switching to diesel is pretty neat, very easy on fuel. But lots of places for the heads to crack!. Friend had a MD..had a heck of time finding a good head!
