Coming down to the final stretch on a huge bunch of work including all new harnesses, gauge cluster refurbish, revamping nearly everything in the engine compartment, etc (pics promised!). This is my first time going through a muscle car (really, any car older than about 1997) and, while I'm super proud of the fact that I've done it all in my garage, I'm a bit stumped on this one.

Currently installing a new M&H dash harness and I've run into another harness that I both didn't expect to be there and can't seem to find a match for. After a medium amount of sleuthing, I can't seem to pin down a match for this thing or a factory name to search against (looking at map light harnesses doesn't provide a match). This harness is connected (in a roundabout way) to the two-terminal door jamb switches & dash map light. There was also a relay in the mix found floating around under the AM radio, not secured to the console. My assumption is the relay allows the jamb switches to turn on the map light when opened but also allow for independent map light function.

Hoping to find someone with more knowledge & experience than myself (effectively zero ) that can decipher if this is a stock piece, something from a different car, or something home-brewed. By the pictures...

Passenger jamb switch. The loose connector should connect into the dash harness:

The other two yellow wires above: one runs to the driver's jamb switch, the other runs into the connector pictured below (the connector should have two yellow wires but one fell apart when moved). The short black wire piggy backed to the fuse panel's ACC. / RR-ACC lane:

The relay this connector was plugged into:

This sets of wires also connects to the map light where the red lines piggy back to the fuse panel's ACC. / RR-ACC lane:

Over on the driver's side. This connectors goes into the new dash harness and the jamb switch (not pictured, behind my hand) has two leads, one going to the relay connector and one going into the new dash harness:

It doesn't strike me as stock since it's just a messy bit of work but the car certainly has other questionable electrical decisions from the factory. Any thoughts or help on this one? Time permitting today, I'll doodle up a quick sketch of the connections as well.

Thanks yall!

That is the wire harness that turns the interior lights on when you open the doors The dome light The map light and the side lights on the console all come on at the same time

For sure - any ideas on a factory ID for it? When looking at map light harnesses, there's not a match. I can't seem to otherwise find a harness containing the relay connector. Maybe it's just that no one makes it?

Second picture with your hand holding connector-
One yellow goose to Left door switch.
One yellow goes to Panel Lamp Dimmer switch.
Purple goes to fuse block Dome Light.
Right Door switch goes to Panel Lamp Dimmer Switch.
This info from manual for Coronet models.

Here’s is pic of wiring for map light, time delay relay ( pen point) and related wiring.
I also used M&H dash wiring in my 68 Charger.
I had everything removed when I installed the new harness.

Ah, thank you! In your case then, did the M&H harness account for all the wiring? Looks like I may have a different relay as my connector is different. Will check in on it.

Sent some emails to M&H and Evans to see what they say. What I'm trying to get at is - what do you do when this A01 lighting harness is cooked? If the connections aren't included in the manufactured harnesses is the option to simply build it yourself? Where would the plastic connectors be sourced from? Definitely in over my head here.

Dash harness was all included from bulkhead to gauge cluster and any accessories such as radio and cig. Lighter.
There are other harnesses needed such as taillights and the harness that goes under drivers seat to shift console.
These two get connected at drivers side kick panel.

If you’re trying to wire a new harness with existing old wiring you’ll have a harder job than me as I had everything gutted and started fresh.
Plus M&H follows the FSM color codes, easier to trace issues
and/or install.

Finally had a chance to get back in the car today and think I've zeroed in on my question. The interior wiring has been hacked to hell so it's hard to tell what goes where without tracing it.

Given the MyMopar wiring diagram for 69 Coronets, I go "off the map" in the spot labeled as weirdness:

A few questions for the gallery if you'll indulge me:
--I'm 99% sure the mystery connector is for a light delay relay?
--Is this simply not included in the factory schematic or is this not something installed on 69 Bee's?
--If this isn't installed on 69 Bee's, any leads on what it would be installed on? I'd like to see a factory schematic to validate that wires are generally in the right place as this car has contained more than a few electrical surprises.

Thanks for any help!

Mymopar.com has links to the factory wiring diagrams. I think based off your drawing, the spooky connector goes to the map light itself. The other connector would be for the ignition light time delay capacitor, it’s not a relay.

The M&H harnesses are strictly the base harness and don’t include any of the aux harnesses.

The harness you are dealing with in your dash is what’s know as the A01 light package.

Ignition time delay light.
Ash tray light.
Glove box light.
Map light.
Trunk light.

So finally, it's a '69 Coronet. As stated, the sub harnesses are not included with the main dash harness. Evans can supply you with them. Just went through this with my '69 Road Runner, but I was lucky, all of my sub harnesses were there, just taped off to the side of the hacked main harness, old race car. These sub harnesses are not always in the main wiring diagram, they are in accessories or other diagrams, in other words, look around, you'll find them!
