Good Morning,

While installing a lot of the small pieces on the 68 Charger 383 I have become stumped by the one pictured below. Although, I took tons of photos prior to disassembly I cannot locate this small bracket in any of my photos. Could not locate it in the FSM. The circular cut appears too large for a plug wire. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!!

It is for a spark plug wire, with a white nylon snap together collar. I think it bolts on a exhaust manifold stud.

Has to be, except I don’t remember any collars on 68’s.

I think it might be held on by a head bolt.
**edit** Nope. That's held by an exhaust bolt like @493 Mike said.

Thank you all for the responses. I thought plug wire as well, however the ones on this motor do not have the inserts. They are coated with a rubber type substance. The photos below show the motor after being pulled from the car for the first time ever (parked by original owner in 1975 with 65K miles confirmed by documentation). All of the plug wire supports shown in the photos have been installed on the refreshed motor. Thanks again!

it bolts to right rear exhaust manifold stud.

For # 8 plug wire, which goes down valve cover, intake side and around back of the head. You posted no picture of rear of engine. I'm not sure if it mounts to a head bolt or exhaust manifold bolt. Also not sure if it was plastic dipped or used the nylon insert. The size of the opening would determine that.

It sure looks like a bracket on the right rear manifold stud.

By gosh that's it!! Found this photo in one of my other albums of car related items. It clearly shows that piece. A sincere thank you to all for the assistance!

67 440's used that bracket and in 68 383's and 440's got them. 67 383's had a bracket welded to the valve cover for #6 and #8.

#8 spark plug wire on my 1967 R/T 440. Uses one of those snap-together white plastic collars.

I thought the #8 plug wire also, but I sure don’t remember the plastic collar. Mine is a later’68. Course it could be my wonderful memory!!

“Turbine “,,,, still doesn’t ring a bell. I could very well be wrong, it’s been a few years! Good thread though, didn’t go way off course.
