Good morning. I have a 69 Charger 500. Purchased it like 20 years ago. Just a shell, yes , rear window plug, no drive train, doors ,hood ect. Question is the radiator opening is 22 1/2"? I thought all 440 charger 500 got the big 26" radiator?

Yup... It was the axle not the trans that triggered max cooling...Might have been a clone car maybe?
440 cars with an automatic came standard with the 8 3/4 rear, but all A12 cars came with the max cooling 26”radiator and the 4:10 Dana 60 regardless of transmission choice.
Maybe a 70 then?Might have been a clone car maybe?

The A12 was 1969 1/2 year only option. But in 1970, yes, it was entirely possible to have a 6 pack or 6BBL car with an automatic and a 22” radiator.Maybe a 70 then?
Ok that’s where I musta seen it then. Thought it strange to have a 22 behind a 6pkThe A12 was 1969 1/2 year only option. But in 1970, yes, it was entirely possible to have a 6 pack or 6BBL car with an automatic and a 22” radiator.
