I will second the choke comment....if that engine is warm....your choke is all wrong.

For the whistling....start removing hoses 1 by one and capping the input. That will rule out any hoses. Don't forget to do the choke pull off diaphragm hose.

Did you change a base gasket?

Use a stethoscope to pinpoint the noise if the above does not work. Pay attention to the throttle shafts where they go into the carb. Place scope there.

Slightly re-tighten the carb bolts to see if a change.

Then why is it almost closed? Does it ever fully open?
yes it will fully open,I seen it open yesterday from the ride, still was hissing, this vid is from this morning cold start,I checked base plate bolts also, thanks again

yes new base gasket.

ok well try going back to the old base gasket.

Did you make a change from 4 hole to fully open or vice versa?

Pretty good. Members here fixed it and never put a hand on the car!

Curious…did you switch from a fully open base gasket to a 4 hole and that’s what caused the sound? Or just a replacement of the sane 4 hole?

One of the carb corner bolts was too tight? I have had experience with putting a single hole gasket on an Edelbrock and my 67 GTX and it whistled quite a tune. A correct 4-hole gasket quieted it.

I have used a single hole gasket.....and every time i gave it a shot of gas it whistled. I chocked it up to air moving between the carb and the manifold. Put the 4 hole gasket on and it dissappeared

I’ve got a four hole to change laying here now. I took off a stupid “heat shield” thin piece of metal that only contributed to the fuel boiling and installed a two hole. Dumbest part ever made is that heat shield, why are they sold?

All I could find locally. Solved the issue, but whistles at times. Not always, why I don’t know, seems it would always.
