I would have been 13 when a local bought a new '66 Mustang. Powder blue, 4 speed and he promptly put 4 chrome reverse wheels on it. Lookin' at that car we thought life couldn't get any better!

I really liked the cool styling and interesting features of my mom's first car, a 1959 pontiac bonneville.
Then I really loved the sculpted slab sides, thick doors, power windows, and upside down reflective horn button center on her next car, a 1967 Newport 383-2.
As I approached driving age, we routinely passed a house on the way to K-Mart. In the driveway, and never moving was a 1969 F8 green, N96, four speed Super Bee.
I was insanely in love with that car, and would walk the length of the K-Mart parking lot, and cross the street to look at it and peer through the windows.
when I was 16, I started driving there and knocking on the door.
I did it once a month for almost 2 years.
Once the owner answered. He was a guy about 5 years older than me.
He said he wasn't interested in selling it. We talked for a while and I gave him my number.
I said if he ever thought about selling it.......
About 2 weeks before my 18th birthday, there was a "for sale" sign on it, but no number.
Again, I started knocking on the door, religiously, daily, even sometimes multiple times and trying different times but never any answer.
About a month passed by and then it was gone.
Similar to this-
But no vinyl top, no side scoops, and a black stripe.
...and decidedly much more worn paint.

A buddy of mine had a 58....that car rode much worse than my dad's 65 Chevy pickup that had the heavy duty springs in the back.

Actually, there were 3 vehicles: First in the Spring of 1968, I was 12 and saw my first 1968 Corvette. Probably black in color.
Second in the late Summer of 1969 my neighbor gave me a ride in his new 1970 Challenger. Lime green, 383 magnum, auto on column.
Third was Chicago auto show, early 1974: Dodge W250 Adventurer. Club cab, 318, Auto on column. Green over cream.

My folks said "car" was the fourth word I ever spoke. [NO being the first...] I remember my "aunt" Irene's blue 59 Chevrolet Impala 2 door 'bubbletop' vaguely, and remember liking it. She bought me a Matchbox just like it, which I still have. But the first car that I remember really bowling me over was our friend David B's turquoise 64 GTO. I remember liking the 63-67 Corvettes - still do - but it wasnt until 67 that I actually knew anybody with one [my dad!] and got to ride in one, so I guess they came after the GTO as far as 'falling in love with'.
Also remember 'falling in love' with a shape - that shape being an Alfa Romeo Giulia GT - at a race. I pointed it out to dad and asked what it was; Dad said 'Alfa Romeo'. I said 'cool! can we get one?'
His reply was 'no, Theyre Italian'.
"Cool!" says I.
Dad says 'no, theyre junk with spaghetti for wiring.'
"But I LIKE spaghetti..."
As far as Plymouths go, I remember vividly falling head over heels for our next door neighbours almost new 65 Belvedere II. Black on black, 383 4speed car, I loved the angular styling , and that C pillar!!! Still love em.

I don't have their car,they sold it in 1981. They wouldn't sell it to me,so I bought the yellow one.
My elder son's first word was 'car'
We had a professional photographer do some work when he was about two years old....this is a collage that we liked....(very expensive)
Anyone who has had a photographer try and take pictures of their kids when they're small will understand how diificult uit is to get them smiling on cue. Our son was no different....he was unhappy, crying and generally not playing the game....until he saw that pedal car.
Things got better after that.
Sorry to hear that, i guess our parents had good taste in cars! My dad bought a 70 Charger 500 with a 383 2bl new in 1970 which I drove in high School. Didnt keep that one when he passed in 2009. But i kept the Hemi Charger .
