Those are my favourite hub caps. I ran a set on body-coloured Police wheels on my Daffodill Yellow 1967 R/T for years. And, I have never called them " dork dishes".
The curved part is crimped on to the longer piece, but with a little effort, it comes apart. Over the years at swap meets and such, I have seen a few people separate them at times (probably for polishing and so on).
Hopefully when you eventually find the long piece, it comes with the curved...

My 67 is a bench seat car, both myself and my wife drive it.
So that seat does get adjusted at times.
