Glen/Ray all the way. Had a 63 Belvedere heater core done by them, they are artists. If you don't care about originality the Ebay Champion radiators are hard to beat.
Just got done with this on a 63 Belvedere Wagon. 383 w Champion rad 18" Flexalite and a shorty spacer. No shroud or A/C. Will see how it cools in the coming Vegas heat. I think I have the parts #s if you need.
Before condemning anything put it back to Factory and evaluate the A/C system. Don't worry about the heater core yet. Get a R134 conversion kit and pull a vacuum on the system. If ok then charge it up. You might be surprised and it may work. I would still keep it Original with maybe a Sanden...
I am currently doing a 63 Belvedere but it is the vertical assembly. Should be the same buttons and slider though in looks. Might have some leftovers when done. Guess you could epoxy them in. Going to tackle it tomorrow will send some pics when done. I need a heater core maybe we can swap?
I still have a jug of R12 and only 1 ride to use it on, a 92 1st gen Dodge 250. I need to find a cycling switch with the capilary tube but have it jury rigged for now.
Thanks for that link I also need the heater core rebuilt and will call the Guy in NY for that. That is the switch with the same P# I need. I will PM you for specifics.
Looking the push button sw from Summit and it says that some mods might be needed. I have 2 originals but the plastic posts that retain the buttons are like dust. Anyone used one of these? It is made by OER.
I have a Champion aluminum Ebay 22 inch in my 68 with a 440. I run the Jaguar style short fan clutch with a 7 blade fan. 180 T-stat a good one from NAPA not a Motor rad from Oreillys. No shroud and it stays @ 190 creeps a bit in traffic to 205. This is in 104 heat down here. A shroud would help...
Heading to Crowley next month still need that ride and a look at the RR. Maybe we can meet up. An extra pair of eyes can’t hurt and I will bring that fan blade.
Got a buddy with a 71 Buick Skylark with a 455, he had low speed cooling issues. I told him to bring it over and I will take a look. Turns out the solid flex fan was on backwards. DOH. Never say never.
Well here is my take on electric fans. Had a Camaro we set up for 3/8 dirt track, typical 350/350. Ran a large electric fan at Fernley near Reno with temps over 100 at nite. After hot laps engine was close to 240. Put a solid fan on it and temp never got over 200. I hear you on the Poncho pump...
