Maybe modify the linkage itself by drilling holes higher up on each shift lever? You’d have to double check that you have enough threads on the shifter rods & possible extend the threads further on them (?)

Don’t freak out. I used to have a six pack air cleaner that was cut to clear a factory a/c compressor. If you cut the “skirt” of the base all the way up to the edge of the filter in that area, it will fit. OR, as mentioned, switch to a Sanden compressor which is much smaller

You need it shorter, so maybe the inner shaft just bottomed out on something inside the upper half?

Double check your clips. They should fit. There are more than 2 holes along the trunk for the trim

The aftermarket scoop you're looking at is 4-1/4" tall....it's only the opening that's 3-1/2". The six pack scoop looks "cool", but per your scoop rules & for the purpose of cooling the engine, a very tall cowl induction type scoop (hole facing the windshield) would be best IMO.

Yes. All there was originally is some thin (1/8” or so) foam with adhesive on the body side only (no adhesive facing the trim)
