And yes that tail shaft bushing probably needs to come out.
You could get a couple rear frame rail repair pieces and install them were you want them.

When I put full exhaust on my 67 I ordered a set of flow master tail pipes 2 1/2" from jegs.
On the 67-67 b bodies you have a limited area between the springs and fuel tank.

The core supports are different.
Can you fit a 26 on a 22 support ? yes you can but will need to drill new mounting holes on the R side.
Or perhaps the brackets mentioned reach back to the 22" mount holes.
If you do not wish to leave 4 inches blocked by the 22 support you can use a cut off...

Like the guys are saying , save all the tunnel you can.
Line up your stampings to your original pans. If sheet metal self tappers won't hold use 1/4 " stuff and draw down flush with a flat washer. Weld up the 1/4 holes when done.

The 8.75 is built better axle wise and I pretty sure has larger pinion bearing set.
