Thanks Gary,
the crack is actually slightly on the roof of the port and I think theres water jacket there. Pressure testing tomorrow then deciding on repaur method. Fortuneately I have access to skilled persons in botho kinds of repairs.
-Crack is on the top "rail" where the valve cover sets.
-It's on the outside/downhill side/ exhaust side...directly above the siamese part of the center exhaust ports.
-Crack runs vertical...straight down and then into one exhaust port.
-Extends into the port about 3/8 inch.
It never...
Just found this thread..great one .. and thanks.
How about breathers and pcv's?
I've lookd at hundreds of pics on the internet and can't figure them out.
1-Some pics show two breathers/no pcv.....what years are like that?
2-Some pics show a pcv on passenger side....again, what year did they...
I have a Comp mechanical street roller cam that I am considering using in my build. My dad has a lot of AMC stuff including a box of new roller lifters. AMC same as Mopar in every way...some of his AMC lifters are actually Mopar part numbers.
So, these lifters, that he'll give me, are...
I contacted Jim Schild, the author, he told me to call Mancini again.......knew they had them......they did........one on the way.
Thank you all..........can't wait to read how I'm gonna authenticate all them Mexican wedges.
Also with that dial indicator you can measure the duration on the hub. I checked my "mystery cam" four times, and averaged the results. When I pulled the engine apart six months later and actually determined make and grind of the cam I had nailed it dead on (with the catalog specs).
Very...
Have posted questions about my engine build..thanks to those who responded...now on to the converter??

Anyone know where I can get one? Usually distributed by Mancini...they're backorded, no promise date. I'd buy a greasy, torn one......wanting one soon. Thanks much

Well Ron, kinda wondering that myself...

-rumpy street cam...maybe around 250deg duration @ .050 (I have a Voodoo hyd and a Comp street mech roller)
What do you suppose that will produce?
thanks Lewt but I can't seem to post pics......they are very similar to the #200-1015 on 440Source website except they taper up near the small end.....not a straight beam like the one shown in thier pic or like an LY.
I called 440Source. They said thier budget rods are good for 500hp on one and 600 or so on the other....can't remember which was which, geez.
I'm just not confident that my rods are exactly the same as 44Source, thus I have no real info to go on.
I guess I'm putting this thing together once...
I recently bought an abandoned project, a 4.15 stroker. It's supposedly the first series 440Source kit from many, many years ago.
It has "Cat" rods. I see Cat stuff on the internet. It's low priced like ProComp stuff.
440 Source still sells that rod as a budget hi-perf rod ($299). At...
PM me....I have been down the vintage dragster path twice and there are pitfalls that can dead-end you quick. I'm encouraging you to go for it! I would be glad to share my experience...one succesfull, one not-so-much.
Absolutely keep the glide...a clutch setup, two speed, reverser...
Ross 4.280

These were $1000 buckaroos when ordered.
With a milled 906 might work for pump gas.
With a real closed chamber would come out around 9-10:1, perfect.
They are scuffed on the skirts...shouldn't really effect much...you decide.
Get that old 413 out and...
I could not get the valve covers on my max wedge heads to not hit and they leaked at the ends.
I glued two gaskets together....still was hitting and rocking back and forth on something..also ends leaked.
Guess what? top of each head (at the valve cover sealing area/ridge/flange) was cast...
