On Holley's website they show 3 different types of the 3310 carb: Dichromate(zinc body), polished aluminum(zinc body), and polished aluminum(aluminum body).
Considering today's fuels, would the aluminum unit dissipate heat better than the zinc, but suffer from oxidation issues?
Insanity? Would you care to elaborate? Constructively? I am not trying to start anything, but a lot of F.A.S.T. guys do quite well with OE parts. You even brought up AndyF who was using OE parts.
A hogged out factory spreadbore intake might work just fine, maybe even better than an RPM. Then...
4.375 bore X 4.15 stroke. I believe that comes to 499 CI.
10.??? compression for pump gas
Edelbrock E-street heads with angled plugs
1970 HP exhaust manifolds (for now)
1978 factory spreadbore intake (or an Eddy RPM intake, depending on dyno results)
the dreaded Thermoquad (I love the sound)...
I agree that the TTI's and Doug's are well made, but they both appear to be unequal length headers. 20+ years ago I remember a place in Minnesota (Headers by ???) that sold equal length headers. The headers fit with the stock starter and all accessories, however, I couldn't afford them at the...
I'm confused... is this old school thinking? Isn't it far better to have all the tubes equal length to get the most out of your system? Or is this a race only item that has shown no benefit on the street?
I am finally rebuilding my 70 4spd RR and it will have a 440 stroker instead of the NOM...
OK guys, here goes: This unit was a backup power source in a turkey barn to keep the fans running so the birds didn't get too hot and die. It had very few hours since the power didn't go out very often. However, it was placed next to a set of doors so the doors could be opened to get cooling air...
Update: the block casting number is 4006630-440-2. A tag attached to the valve cover shows the generator was made in 1978. So far so good. It appears that the 4 barrel intake had an adapter plate put on it and a large 2 barrel LP carburetor with a belt driven speed governor was used. The seller...
I have a line on a non running 440 in a scrap LP generator. Aside from the differences between LP and gasoline, are the blocks the same or totally different? It might make for an interesting project...
Premium pump gas, so I am guessing 9-9.5 to 1 compression.
"Daily driver" driven with a lead foot. 4 speed with probably a 3.23 or 3.55 gear.
A middle RPM range with a flatter curve since I am assuming that the HP manifolds will restrict the airflow on the top end.
Hi guys! So I am starting to restore my 70 Roadrunner (4spd) after many years of storage. The NOM worn out cast crank 383 (yes, cast) that hasn't run in years needs to be replaced with a 440. Don't care about originality but it needs to look somewhat "right". That being said, I am starting...
I was referred to someone (who will remain anonymous) that I am told is very good at rebuilding Mopar engines. This is not someone working out of his own garage in his backyard. He has been in business rebuilding engines for many years. He is good, just not known in magazines, TV, You Tube, etc...
How did you remove all the rust from the panels and parts? Evaporust? You did a great job on cleaning it up and I would like to make mine look as clean as yours came out.
I have a heater core that was in a car from Florida. Evidently they didn't use any antifreeze until the car came to Minnesota. It is clogged up and wont pass any fluid through it. My 22" radiator is also gummed up pretty bad since the 383 had overheating issues. Is it better to have them cleaned...
Hi!!! I just found this site and had to join right away. What a great place to learn and share.
My car is a basket case that was beaten like a rented mule before I bought it in 83. I was going to college and it was all I could afford at the time. It was originally a 383/4spd Sandpebble Beige...
