If you watch Chris Birdsongs "junkerup" you tube vids, you will see he has to cut, slice and reweld ALOT of panels to achieve good fitment alignment. While we are glad to have panels to work with, sadly, I don't think they will make the effort to "tweak" them for a better fit.
This is the sheet that was in my one owner 68 GTX, and is not the one for my car, so, finding the car it belongs to would be a long shot at best....but, one never knows......
Can you guys school a newbie on understanding trim levels? Ok, as I understand things, a Belvedere , a Satellite , a Road Runner , a GTX are ALL the same body within the same year model, with just different levels of trim applied and engine\drivetrain options. Correct ? Is the Coronet in the...
I started digging into a bit some yesterday and found trunk pan, at least front floor pan all rusted out. Quarter panels possible could be patched. Bench seat, front and rear intact but rotted and rusted. Steering column missing. Passenger side glass shot out. Has the small, 7 1/4 ?, rear end...
Guys, drug another turd home today.....thought I might be good for parts but its rough, should I have just left it to be swallowed up, was just a plain jane grama 's car. I don't think it is of any value.....opinions please.
Yes, 33, on the "scheduled assembly date". But don t think I can know for sure the assembly date. But the November 16 date would work for me in trying to collect some close as possible non original parts with casting dates. thanks
Guys, my fender tag on my 68 GTX shows B16 as the scheduled assembly date...so , would that be February 16 or November 16. That 68 only decode file seemed to show that was a November build date...just want to be sure...thanks.
Thanks 68bb, that was my best guessing in just looking at other pix of QQ1. But, have heard B7 was also a darker blue and not sure what year that was offered. Pretty sure I will go with QQ1 rather than the original Frost Blue also....
Guys, in watching some old Graveyard Cars episodes they reworked Bills 68 GTX , but I did not hear them say the color. Was it QQ1. In looking at 68 paint chips , QQ1 looked the closest to me. Mine came Frost Blue and I just do not like it to go back with that, but wish to keep the interior in...
thanks chrisrod1, that helps me understand the process much better. Parts were pulled and set for said car at said times per the vin build sheet but not required to be used at actual assembly time. I heard a Chevy historian say that GM would upgrade an engine choice to keep the line moving if...
Thanks, I think I see what you mean , that they may have grabbed anothers seats and stuck in my car as it was moving along instead of somebody just sticking the wrong sheet in the wrong car. My build sheet is in pretty crappy shape so not sure I can tell if those seats are the same for my fender...
Mopar factory assemblers.....I was thinking those folks were pretty use to following PROCEDURES as best as the engineers laid them out . I figured it was a secretary from the typing pool placing the paperwork in place that committed this screw up.....and yes, this one effects Me.....ha ha...
Ok, here is the vin tag from my 68 GTX and here is the build sheet I removed from the rear seat of the one owner car. Only the first several digits match as you can see. My car IS Frost blue, WU2, and this build sheet appears to be for a QQ1 car.....is that the way you guys see it. I am assuming...
I just purchased repop bumpers from AMD, mine are beyond repair and rechrome. I think repop fenders are also available IF you have to go down that road.....sorry for you loss. I still drive my first car on the road and have had it 49 years....and do think about it getting smashed every time.....
Its a 50 year old Mopar, so , of course there s rust, somewhere. But prolly not much under the vinyl top. Most car guys, that have the funds, ensure the roof is as good as possible before installing a top. And by the looks of that one , I assume it has been kept indoors mainly since then. I...
Ok Guys, my 68 tag has some of the same numbers as the two tags posted; do we know what the 64 , first line, 2 under x on second line, 95 under 12 and 8 under the 7 on the third line, what they decipher to...thanks....
