I thought I had the right pulleys for my 1969 non-ac w/ power steering 440 build. The water pump pulley is 6-7/8” and the crank pulley is 6-3/4”. They are very close together and the alignment is off about a 1/4”. Do I have the wrong water pump pulley, crank pulley or both?
I would like to paint my Steath heads engine color. What products are recommended? I've read to clean then use self- etching primer, followed by engine primer, and then the top coat. Is the self- etching primer heat resistant?
Thank you
Admittedly it has been many moons since I started a fresh engine to break in non-roller lifters. The more articles I read and watch videos, the more I'm worried I may screw this up. This is a mild performance build 440 with a comp cams cam and Johnson lifters. All I have seen state that you get...
Planning on swapping out the small block/ 904 trans for a 440/ 727 trans soon. I will be working mostly by myself, so my question. Would it be better to remove the transmission first then engine? I do have a engine picker and floor type tranny jack.
Installing the new BB, same in reverse order...
For a Mopar 440 and 727 transmission, when did the factory use 10" vs 11" flex plates? When purchasing a new torque converter for street performance use, what would be the advantage to one over another?
I will be removing a very nice running moderately built 340 (x heads) within the next few months, and am looking for some thoughts on how to prepare it for sale.
Thinking a good video showing it starting up and running with oil pressure, etc. A newspaper for proof of the date. Maybe...
I am building a 440 for my 68 Charger. It is a 9.5-10 compression motor with:
.030 over Icon IC9953 pistons
Eagle H beam rods
Comp cam 21-224-4 hydraulic cam
Hughes lifters
440 Source heads- mildly worked (cleaned up)
Edelebrock Performer RPM with a 780 Quick fuel carb
727 with 2200 stall...
For a fresh 440 .030 over with pro source aluminum heads and Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. Other than the Felpro 1215 what other options should be considered?
In the process of building a ‘69 440. Found that this engine had a standard transmission bushing in the crank. Any way of telling what model car this may have been from?
Considering a 750 Quick Fuel for the 440 I’ve putting together. The engine has zero deck height, 440 source heads, a mild cam and will have headers.
This will be in a street car ‘68 Charger, and projected HP around 500. Looking at an performer rpm intake.
I have a Quick Fuel 650 on a 340 and...
Should I have a set of Crane adjustable iron ductile rockers rebuilt (around 550.00) with new shafts/ banana grooves or go with new roller rockers like Comp pro magnums?
Going on a newly built 440, Eddy 60929 heads, 10:1 compression non stroker.
Thanks in advance.
Where should I buy a pair of 440 Edelbrock Performer RPM heads? I know that they’re back- ordered but wondering if Summit, Jegs, etc. charge your card right away or when the parts are delivered. Can you buy direct from Edelbrock?
Thanks
I am building a 440 for my 68 Charger. This will eventually replace the 340. The block is a late ‘69 standard bore which will need a .030 over bore.
I am working with an engine guy and we are in the planning stages for a 10:1 street machine that have around 500hp. Car has a 323 posi rear...
I’ve had issues (collapsed) with the Comp hydraulic lifters in my 340 and want to replace them. Does anyone have experience with Howards or Lunati hydraulic flat lifters or another recommendation??
Finally have ironed out many issues rated to a 904 rebuild in my 340 powered Charger. Fired things up and have filled the trans to the proper level. Took it for a test drive and it shifted great, with no leaks, but there a rattling tinny sound in neutral or park. It goes away in drive or...
