Hi everyone, back to this awesome forum with more questions.
Last week I purchased a set of Pertronix flame thrower 7mm "stock look" ignition wires (#708101), for several reasons. The main one was to clean up the engine bay and be able to work around my Hooker headers. My current OE Autozone...
When the engine is at TDC should the distributor rotor point to #1 cylinder or intake front left bolt? The service manual states the intake bolt but I have seen some online threads state the #1 cylinder.
I am having issues with my wipers. I have a two speed wiper switch that goes from off to low and high settings. The high setting seems to work fine but every now and then will stop on its own. The low setting does not work at all and I has a clicking sound coming from the switch itself. I...
Last year I dealt with the dreaded rear main seal leak on my coronets 318. After trying four different seals I was able to stop the leak. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a drop of oil at the bottom of the bell housing and panicked! I removed the transmission inspection port and no oil buildup...
Is anybody currently running a Pypes Street Pro 2.5" exhaust with MVA 13 muffler? My car is a 67 Coronet with slightly modified 318. I have a Flowmaster super 40 system installed which sounds good but has a lot of drone when taking along trip. I currently saw a video of a comparison of both...
I have been putting up with a loose door glass crank handle for a long time. Mainly because I have been fixing other mechanical issues. I am finally at the point where I can address this annoying problem. Below is a video of the issue. Is this something that’s repairable if I remove the...
Can someone provide me with the measurements to locate/install the fender mounted turn signal indicators? I recently purchased some and would like to install on my 67 Coronet. Thank you
Should the idle mixture screws on a edelbrock carb be adjusted with car in park or drive ? I am using a vacuum gauge to adjust for highest vacuum reading. Car is a 67 coronet with 318 and automatic 727.
On the way back from a car show yesterday I noticed the car had a slight hesitation and engine shake. I pulled off the highway and it felt like a bad misfire. This morning I replaced the distributor cap, ignition wires and checked the coil. I don’t think it is a misfire. The engine starts...
I have some problems with my fuel gauge reading correctly, and have finally decided to take care of this annoying issue. It is an aftermarket sender and original fuel gauge. Knowing that the new senders do not really send correct ohm readings I added a meter match to help.
My issue is that...
What’s is the small part circled in red in the picture attached? My distributor is not exactly the same but has that same part. It has a flap on top that seems to be spring loaded.
Anyone know who sells the meta gasket for a 318 points distributor base? I need one for my original distributor and all the replacements I find are the felt type that seem to deteriorate over time, causing a leak.
Does anyone know what thread size and length the bolts are for the transmission braces? There is one on either side of the engine and bolts to block and transmission bellhousing.
I asked this in a previous post but got no answers to this specific question, regarding a persistent rear main leak. Thanks to everyone help I have managed to minimize the leak greatly. Only a few drops when pushing past 1500 rpm.
The only thing I can think may be an issue is the following...
see images attached.
Is it normal to have this much gap between engine block and rear main cap outer stepped edge? The cap also seems to not sit perfectly flush with the block along the front and rear of cap. Is there a certain way to sit the cap in place before torquing to avoid this?
I just finished replacing the rear main seal and cap and have two questions. After I torqued the cap to 85 foot pounds per the manual I can see part of the “ears” on the lower half protruding past the cap. Do I just cut this off so it does not interfere with the oil pan.
Second is that the...
I have been tracing an oil leak that I thought was coming from the oil pressure sending unit. Located the rear of the block. It has been getting progressively worse over long drives and have come to the conclusion that it is the rear main seal. When I look under the car I can see oil residue...
Does anyone have images of how an astray with slider installs into the dash of a 67 Coronet. I recently purchased one for mine and cannot figure out exactly the correct installation. Thank you in advance
I am trying to figure out where my oil is going. Not a drop of oil on the driveway when I park the car for several days. When I check underneath, there is a drop that looks like its coming out of the transmission inspection port. Could this be from the rear main seal? If so, would it only...
I was cleaning my engine bay today and noticed a mall amount of oil on top of the valve cover. It looks like it came out of the filler cap. It’s a 67 coronet with a 318, stock valve covers. Is this normal? Or is it time to replace the valve covers and new filler cap? I also noticed a small...
