1 PIECE TRUNK FLOOR INSTALL

Working on a 70 GTX & it needs the trunk floor replaced. The owner got a 1 piece trunk floor. Im not sure how to go about installing it. I never installed a 1 piece just the ones that come in 2 haves. I am going to have both quarters off. Any ideas ?

Then once one quarter off slide pan in and drop offs attach quarter and repeat for the other side I say

I put a '72 Charger floor into my '74 Charger with fixed (louvered) quarter windows. It wasn't fun, but I did it. I kind bent it into a "U" front to back centerline and got it in and turned then put into place.

Nevermind, I thought you meant the interior floor, lol... I did do it, and it WAS a PITA, but not germane to this conversation... I did do a trunk in my Bee, but it was 2-piece.

In my '70 Charger, (Jigsaw) I cut the floor pan at the frame rails and only replaced that. It fit through the trunk opening.

The left and right sides of my floor were fine so this was easy for me here.

I also did the center only. I was installing a fuel cell, so I did not need attachment points for a tank. Had a friend fab some sheet metal with rolled ribs.

I put AMD full truck pan in my 70RR. Pretty tight squeeze but I got mine in from the front.
I mini tubbed it so I had the wheel houses out and also had the diagonal pinion snubber braces behind the rear seat out. I got it in there without cutting or bending the pan.

the bottom of the tail light panel attaches to the rear flange on the trunk pan.......... drill those welds out and you're 2//3 of the way to removing it; you have to drill them anyway

then it becomes a "hotdog in a hallway"

it also allows you to crawl inside the trunk to do most of the welding, then reattach the tlp

you can leave the gutters on the car

These are from my road runner build thread. I though the pics would show, but you will have to click on them. Remove the rear crossmember and slide it in.

She is all prepped excluding the very back at the tail panel. It's wire wheeled and weld through primed. Once I get a pan I will drill out the rear valance and clean up that area. A friend told me how to do the pan and he had posted pics on "that other site" of how he did it. I can't wait to do this. I posted the pics so that anybody else doing this task can see the process. I want to install the pan and extension prior to repairing the passenger wheelhouse, just so I get it the right shape. I also received a passenger side trunk extension today. Thanx to the wonderful world of FBBO, a member who had an extra contacted me and offered it up. He gave me a smokin' deal. Thanx CHARGERSTEVEN!

Well I learned that if you don't have to remove the rear crossmember, it doesn't quite work like the pics I posted earlier. I had to make 3 small slits in my tail panel to allow enough flex to push it in. They are hidden by the bumper and you wouldn't know they are there anyway. But now I will have to drill all the holes in the car as I won't be taking it out again! No big deal, it's all prepped underneath and ready to weld. The extensions and pan match up very nicely. The driver side is perfect but the pass has a very slight misalignment. It will be an easy fix. Three cheers to AMD on these pieces!
