18 spline 2nd gear question

Hi,
Will a OEM 2801105 30 tooth 2nd gear from a 1969 - 2.65 ratio trans work in a 1972 - 2.44 ratio trans which calls for OEM 3410403 which is also 30 tooth? Seems like they are the same. Did Ma Mopar just change the part number?

That's a good question and I don't have a 2.44 gear set to compare. The only way to know for sure is to measure the pitch diameter (hard to do) or install it on the main shaft with the cluster in position and check the mesh and backlash. Thanks. I have since learned that they are different diameter and won't interchange.
